Still can’t believe he gave up the chance to be PL all time top scorer just to win a trophy or 2 with a club that always wins. Unless he comes back to the PL next season, which I highly doubt, he’s lost the chance imo.
I think he's put his personal happiness ahead of that. Alan Shearer probably slipped him a tenner as well...

And although it's not looking good right now he was clearly thinking 4 years with bayern that's 35 CL games. They will always be favouries to win the German league and Cup with outside chance of winning CL

Bayern are the most dominant team over the last 10 years in a major league

All of that v staying at Spurs for yet another rebuild and beating shearers record just wasn't enough

Apparently would've already been the golden boot winner in Germany in 35 of the 60 Bundesliga campaigns. (and that's before Yesterday)

I do wonder if he saw 22 year old Haaland score 36 in his 1st season and though he would lose the all time scorer title 5 years after he claimed it anyway.

Don't believe that was case at all. Unfortunately I think his relationship with Levy was big part of the reason and he possibly didn't see any way for us to get back into champions league anytime soon.

He needs to be playing in Champions league every year and so that's probably main motive in going to Bayern. It a shame he didn't stay for us fans, the club and premier league. I think he would have been close to record by end of this season in this team. I think he will probably regret leaving.

Well, seeing as Kane played a large part in the Mourinho and Conte missteps, I don't think he's the right man to point fingers at Levy.

If he stays at Bayern for at least two more seasons pretty sure he will win a title. Just don't think he wanted to end his career without a winners medal of some description.

By all accounts he conducted himself reasonably, I will stay and give my best, or I am happy to go if you want to get some money in, but I am not signing a new contract at the moment. The only thing you might argue is that he couild have signed a new deal with a buyout clause that comes into force summer 2024. So he stays one seaosn at least under Ange and Levy knows worst case scenario he gets some money for him this summer, albeit nothing like the amount Bayern have apparently paid.

But you are right, his relationship with Levy will have had an impact on his outlook.

Shame of it is, I can see us being right up there at the monent had he stayed and given his all under Ange.

To be fair, he probably thought if I want any realistic chances of winning trophies I need to leave and there weren't many alternatives. As much as Ange has done very well this season, we still won't have won any trophies and without significantly more investment (which I can't see Levy sanctioning), we won't be winning the PL or CL anytime soon. We won't prioritise winning other trophies over gaining a CL place so I think he made the correct decision.

I don’t think there was any great mystery about his decision to leave. He was desperate to leave two years earlier. He wasn’t signing a new contract and it’s not like we had made any major progress in the intervening two years.

The only slight surprise is where he went. But Bayern Munich are still a massive club. They have won the Champions League/European Cup 6 times. Only Milan (7) and Madrid (14!) have won it more times.

Strange to think around Christmas time people were calling for him to potentially pick up the Ballon D'or. Would be a strange one for him to get it now if they have a trophy-less season (even if he does break a load of records for goals over there)

A lot still rests on how Kane and England do at the Euros.
