If Kane turns down the offer he's absolutely within his rights to just stick his fingers in his ears and run down his contract.

Probably naive on my part, but after the club has spent the entire summer dealing with this nonsense at his request, hi-jacking our entire transfer planning and Ange's pre-season in the process, only for him to have a change of heart at the 11th hour, you'd hope he'd at least sign some some of deal that means the club gets a fee for him next summer.
To be fair, the carefully promoted Kane line was that he was open to staying if he saw progress. It’s only really been in the last few weeks that the green shoots of that progress have been visible.

I believe that he was probdbly honest in those sentiments but also told Charlie to keep BM on the hook in case Ange came in and seemed hopeless.

all perfectly reasonable behaviour when not viewed through the lens of being a fan.

Flood of disagrees incoming but then don't make him first choice. Impact sub. What we worried about? Him devaluing and losing him for nothing in a year? That's going to happen anyway.
What's the point of deliberately spiting the team by not playing the best player in the squad? Ridiculous

Did it really hijack our transfer planning? Seems we’ve gotten players we wanted at the positions we needed. There would be a 2nd slug if he goes. There won’t be if he doesn’t (or dependent on other sales PEH / Dav / Reg/ tangx2 etc).

ideally would have all been done sooner, but it is what it is.

Im sure Richy is raring to lead the line Sunday if we need him too. He’s looked very good in preseason.

I bet Ange is all over this in terms of using it as motivation for the other players. They don’t think you’re good enough without Kane. You show them they’re wrong.

He doesn't have to do anything of the sort. What are we going to do send him off to train with the kids?
True. He's not the sort of player to try to admonish into a move, or a contract. He can now confirm he's going to stay.

But even though he's as rich as Croesus, extension to his contract gives him security. If we offer three/four years, with a buyout clause, or specific clauses, then both sides have financial reassurance and it can all be amicable.

He obviously doesn't really want to go there.

This is all pretty funny, Levy is the only one looking ok out of this. amateur hour from the Kane's (as per) and Bayern look like fools going through all this for the World to then see he doesnt actually want to go that much.

He very well might still end up going, but if he does, everyone can see he wasn't mega keen on it and it's literally only because its his only option.

Half thinking that "BS" twitter thing YankSpur put up earlier is a pretty reasonable shout of whats going on. Levy has called everyone's bluff here

As I’ve put on here previously, I really think we’re onto something finally and have recruited in every position needed (yes we’re one centre back short but we have bought in a new one for first eleven).

Reckon we can make a real go of domestic competitions this year and with another summer of recruitment next summer continue to be right up there.

Unsure why some think Kane owes it to the club to sign an extension. He said he would stay as long as there is progress, and there hasn't been for a while.

We are nearly there and probably need another good CB and wide forward to have a decent season. IMO, it's up to Levy to give him reasons to sign.

Makes sense after Levy's basically spent the best part of a month negotiating this nonsense.

Guilt trip Kane into signing a new deal pls. Even if it's just a 1 year extension with a buyout clause next summer.
Right? Can you imagine?

DL: “Ok, Harry - they’ve come to the table, we’re happy from our side. All the best.”
HK: “Yeah, so, I’m actually not like super keen.”
DL: “Listen son, if you and Charlie wanna cosplay as cats asking to be let out, I think it’s only fair to tell you that I charge my cat for lodging and kibble. So shit or get out the litter box!”

And any owner with ambition to achieve isn't going to demand it either.

It's simple if I'm Kane. "Look Daniel I don't want to leave but you have to admit it's been a complete shit show the last few years. I really like Ange and he's really impressing me but I'm not going to sign an extension until I see if this is the real deal or another false dawn who is sacked by November"

Take it or leave it!

And that is exactly what I would be advising Kane to say.

If he stays he has to sign even a 1 year extension to his current deal. We cannot lose him for nothing in 12 months.
Personally, I dont really care about the financial aspect...this club have made loads of money every year off of us fans without proper reinvestment, why do I care how much they get for him when I have no belief it will be properly reinvested. I want him to stay, period

Maybe not totally hi-jacking it as we've bough players in, but you have to imagine half of the holdup over Tapsoba/VdV was because we had no idea how big our budget actually was going to be, among other deals.

Plus we've obviously spent the past few weeks exploring loads of options under the assumption he could leave.

Must be a colossal amount of time and energy wasted given we've had to plan around 2 vastly different eventualities.

So much more time could've been focused on getting players out of the door than negotiating an imaginary deal too.
