Yeah, after playing West Ham, a bunch of Singaporean fishermen and a depleted team from Ukraine why would our first eleven, who are learning a new style of play, need more competitive minutes together.
Why would we knacker them with 2 games in 72 hours which is not a normal turn around anyway? And we've got our first game of the season on Sunday, there would be potential for muscle injuries at that rate.

I think you should take a deep breath.

Er... why are a whole load of the 1st eleven from Sunday not travelling for the friendly today? That seems like a stupid way to prepare for a season that kicks off in a few days.
Been working hard like every pre season and the players need a rest before the season starts. It's worth mentioning no one else is playing a pre season friendly as late as we are so it's very understandable.

No need for a deep breath thanks, just an opinion about our prep for this season. Which @Trix has now explained...

You get that the season starts this weekend right? Playing twice in 3 days ahead of a competitive game would be a nice quick way to some lovely muscle injuries.

We have a massive squad, we've gone from playing 2x XIs in a match (one per half) to now playing one XI for the majority of 90 mins (vs SD) and the other XI majority of 90 mins (vs Barca). Don't forget they've been training for the last 4/5 weeks as well so its hardly like they don't have minutes in their legs, its all about ramping up then tapering off before the season starts.

No team is ever 100% ready to go for GW1 of a new season but you can assume the majority of those who aren't travelling (apart from H perhaps) are resting/recovering and will almost certainly start on Sunday.

Anyway, apologies for derailing, this is all off topic - so Kane, whereabouts in the going / staying cycle are we this morning?

TBF mate it's not been ideal, but at the same time it's not the clubs fault Leicester was a washout and Roma cancelled when it was too late to replace with quality opposition. You could also argue learning a completely new style is going to be easier against opposition where you can dominate possession and put your learnings into practice, rather than against teams that will pin you back for large parts of the game.

Remember Pre season is about getting match fit and prepped for the season opener, not playing highly competitive games that will ruin the players before it even starts.

From reading everything out there it sounds like Kane is stuck because he has two extremely stubborn sides negotiating together with both desperate to win the deal and it's causing stalemate after stalemate.

Bayern are morons. They have been talking/leaking stuff about Harry since skateboard boy was there and their conduct through the media has not only shown them to have absolutely no class but also is just about the worst thing you can do to Daniel Levy. As for Levy himself I hope to god he knows what his doing. If he loses out greatest ever next summer on a free and then claims poverty because we didn't get a fee that would be a new low even for him and believe me in my head that bar is extremely low.

If Harry does stay I can see him and Ange doing something special this season. Harry will score 30 again and if we can sort the defence out to make it reasonable then the sky's the limit.
