So I’d had a couple of jars before posting about Kane’s goal choice on that video last night and may have been a bit brash, but I just think if he were a true Spurs fan, playing for and about to captain the club he grew up supporting, at least in most people I know, it would be a no-brainer to pick a moment from your club career over an England goal, especially when it’s a pretty basic header amongst a career of screamers. I think it’s deliberate and he’s being impartial for a reason. Just my opinion. Obviously I’d love for him to stay but I don’t feel he wants it anymore.
England is his biggest honour in football. He's mentioned this before so the answer is expected. People don't realise how much representing England means to him.

Yeah people need to chill out. I'd imagine scoring for your country far outweighs everything else.
I agree. He strikes me as the type of guy who keeps press cutttings in a some sort of shrine room. There will be far more positive ones that make him smile when he scores for England. Especially big, back page (maybe even front page) ones.

But if they paid £120m we still couldn't get a replacement at his level.
And Napoli lost a whole host of key players last summer and came out of it with the league title. There is a way to do it, does take a fair bit of luck but it can be done.

I genuinely thought he'd choose that masked goal against Arsenal but I can understand his choice of the debut goal for the national team.

Honestly when you've won nothing by scoring a winning goal in a final it's not an easy answer. Scoring in the NLD for him is pretty routine anyway. Sure some goals will be great but these games are just for fan pride more than anything. Until we beat them in a cup final or a game that wins us the title it doesn't measure that high. That's the greatest shame for Kane so far, for all his goals to have not won a title. I really do hope he gets that moment where he scores a winning goal that wins a title. Preferably with us if not then for England or does it abroad. For me the dream scenario is he stays a bit longer and gets the Shearer record with a domestic trophy. Then like a true boyhood player leaves abroad so not to join a league rival and wins a league and Champions League. Maybe get the Balon D'Or late in his career like Benzema.

For me once you break Shearers record, I would want to then get as many goals as I can which will mean my legacy would hopefully last a lot longer than Shearers did... but that's me and I'm not Harry Kane

Meh, who gives a shit.

Maybe he just said that cos worldwide he's most famous for being the England captain so for a wider, largely American, audience he wants to choose an England goal.

Or maybe it IS his favourite goal as it was his first for his country...which is a totally reasonable answer.

People care too much about club loyalty then turn around and slag players off or want them sold the second they aren't quite upto it anymore.

Harry’s still behind Tony Cottee in the all time English top flight scorers list & he’s 144 goals behind Greavsie. If of course you don’t think football started with the premier league.

so basically he needs to buckle down & score 25 goals per season for the next 6 years.

If you’ve ever watched the standard of defending in Alan Shearer’s “Premier League 100 Club” on Sky, especially in the early 90s, you’ll be shocked Kane is closing in. It was so bad.

The more I think about the Kane situation, the more I realize how little we know about what is really motivating him.

You will have some suggest Kane really wants the PL record. Then you will have some that suggest that Kane really wants trophies. And then, you have some who say Kane's family is really his motivating factor - and why he won't move away. Then you have some that try to blend it and say - Kane can go somewhere for a few years to win trophies, then come back to the PL to go for the record because he could play for another 6-7 years.

Really - only Kane knows what he wants - the rest of us are just guessing, and probably spinning it by what we would want.

Kane has often talked about taking a chance in the NFL - I don't think he has a shot - but if he does, he won't being playing football for 6-7 more years.

Kane is building his "retirement" home - maybe he just wants to spend time with family and golf - and so he looks at his career as having only a few years left.

Maybe Kane is just looking for the most money he can get before he retires, and would sign a huge deal with Spurs to ensure he and his family are set for life.

At this point, I think the best thing that we can hope for - that Kane is honest with Levy/Munn/Ange about what he wants - and then Spurs can take the best decision based on that.

And to that extent I think we're fortunate, as he just will be honest - so the discussions should all be more than amicable and sensible and everyone can hopefully get what they want out of the situation.
