What's new

Harry Kane

I didn’t want to say anything but I can’t keep my mouth quiet anymore. I’m actually very disappointed in Harry Kane, the way he’s handled things this week. The season isn’t even over and he makes this interview with Neville, basically saying he is wants to leave

A lot of Spurs fans was calling Kyle Walker a snake when he left, what’s the difference if Kane leaves to Man City? A lot of fans was really angry at Rose for making his interviews, what’s the difference now?

If Kane leaves for a British club I will lose all my love for him. I won’t hate him same way I don’t hate Walker, but I won’t care for him anymore same way I don’t care for Walker anymore

The club will always be ahead of any player, we support the club not the individual player

Having said all that I still think Kane will be here next season. He will try his best to get a move to Man City but I don’t think it will happen

Indeed. Imagine if any other player than Kane, has done what he has. First the brother and now the interview.

It would be a whole different fire than what we're seeing now.

Have lost a lot of respect for Harry coming out with all this before the end of the season.

Like others have said, Walker, Eriksen and Rose got called snakes and got pelters from our fans for doing the same.

Maybe Harry Winks was right about Kane ?

Harry Winks right about Kane?

We're nowhere near a direct rival for City at the moment...but you certainly don't get nearing to becoming a rival by selling them your top players. That only widens the chasm.
Maybe. But seeing as we’re skint, we could sell Kane and snap up four of the most talented young players in Europe in a market where almost all teams will be desperate for cash. Get in a young coach and get our team running and pressing again.

I don’t really see how we rebuild this side on a shoestring.

Fuck the covid market anyone who thinks he is going for 100m is deluded

I wouldn't be surprised if levy demands £170m especially to a prem club
Agreed. Without COVID Levy would have done what he did with Bale and wanted a new world record. With COVID he'll settle for 2nd to Neymar in terms of fee. Can't see Levy selling Kane this summer for any less than £150m.

£150 M no less! or I'd try and get creative, loan Kane out to City for 2 years, 50 million fee. With the condition that Kane signs I new 5 year contract. Let him get his medals then retun. Unfortunately Levy and Co don't have the same ambition as Kane (or us)!

Genuinely think all this will just make levy dig in more. The timing from Kane is dreadful but 100% think Nevilles fucked him. He’s clearly the sky source and I reckon they’ve pulled forward the interview release date forwards to get the ball rolling. United will get Sancho, There’s absolutely no chance on earth levy or Kane entertains Chelsea. He obviously wants Pep and City but like carragher said in his article the cost of the deal is actually pretty bad business for most clubs
Kane fucked himself by agreeing to the interview before the end of the season. It would have been simple to say: “I’d love to talk mate, ring my brother, and set a date after the season is over.”

Apparently he is more worried about distractions during the Euros than with Spurs. Now he will get distractions at both.

The sooner we sell Kane, the sooner we can sign him back in his 30's when he can no longer move sooo

This keeps happening though, doesn't it. Players and managers going behind Levy's back and talking direct to the press or media. They obviously don't have enough rapport with him, or they don't trust him.

Andy who can blame them, the way Levy's been with players in the past. Told Crouch to find another club because he wasn't kicking another ball in a Spurs shirt. Telling Carrick, when the lad said he wanted a pay rise, no, you'll have to leave if you want more.

Maybe if there was a better relationship through the club then this wouldn't keep happening.

I'd advise everyone watch the interview for themselves, try and block out the media furore and treat it fairly based off what's said. I don't think it's as bad as is being made out.

My issue isn't with the content per se, it's the timing of it being released.
If Rashford or Pogba had done something like this, St Gary (and I do like him generally) would be going ballistic about it.
Sky/Skybet are complicit parties as it drives content to their channels/sites etc.
Poor form all around imo.

While I agree that the language used isn’t as egregious as the press is reporting, it was unnecessary and the timing stinks. It has tarnished him in my opinion.

"[Those two seasons] I feel was a big opportunity for us. We had a title race for Leicester obviously, we didn’t quite get there the season after with the title race with Chelsea.

"Season after that we get to that Champions League final so we were in a real good place. Of course we didn’t win anything and we couldn’t quite get over the line but I feel like we was in a real good place with the team.

"For one reason or another we didn’t quite do what we needed to do and kind of where we’re at now I feel like we’re kind of at a rebuild stage again if I’m honest.

"It’s disappointing, I feel like the opportunity was definitely there. I’m not going to say it’s not there anymore of course, football… one or two good players can take the team over the line with Liverpool and City and teams like that, but for sure I feel like it was an opportunity missed for the club to do something special."
This for me sums it up perfectly, everyone knew in order to “push on” and go again we needed one or two additions to the squad, the painful rebuild that never came.
The board sat on its hands and they didn’t back the manager otherwise we’d have had a new signing or two come in, we had a manager that had us challenging for major honours, the first time in years and they blew it.
This is the knock on effect of ENIC not stepping up, they are to blame for the last two seasons by not investing in the squad when they should have.

The whole hour is available now. I said the same as you yesterday and I still agree.

He says quite an amazing thing about Mourinho and working on fitness and going in the gym. He expected the players to do gym work off their own backs, it wasn’t a scheduled thing. Well, that’s just stupid. Footballers will always try and cut corners. Not everyone is as professional as Harry Kane. Obviously the players didn’t keep their fitness levels where they should be. Quite a revealing insight there and obviously a huge mistake by Mourinho.

Hope Neville gets his cut of the transfer fee after this. Bet he wouldn't do this with Rashford or Fernandes.

Someone else pointed out earlier the hypocrisy of Neville. Imagine this was Pogba, a week before the EL final.

He’s complained previously about the press destabilising England before a big tournament, yet lo and behold...

I think the players have been aware of this for a few months and it has had an impact on the performance of the team. I may be totally off-base but I feel that Son has been especially affected by it. Its also the reason why, in my opinion, Kane needs to go asap. I know he is professional and won't strike etc but its clear his heart isn't in it and to compete at the top end of the league you need that total focus. There will be a negative impact on next season and the team with this hanging over us.

Now is the time to hit re-boot; get the funds in and support the new manager in re-moulding us.

That said I will always have a lot of time for Harry and can understand his frustration, even if his timing was selfish. All time Spurs legend whether he stays or goes.
He's in the running for the Golden boot in a season where the team has been pretty abject for the majority of it.

I can accept that he's frustrated, so that may affect his form somewhat, but I don't think you could ever accuse H of not having his heart in it when wearing a Spurs shirt.

I remember when that accusation was levelled at Vertonghen, after a stinker of a season. A manager change and some decent recruitment soon changed that

Thing is if Levy had done his due dilligence, he would have found the same thing happened at United and they became one of the least fit teams in the PL. Jose’s regression into an old-school British Pulis-type manager was a sight to behold.

This was well known and was discussed at length in the Mourinho thread before he was fired. The Athletic wrote a detailed article about how Mourinho effectively replaced Sports Science with massage tables t both Man U and Spurs and showed detailed stats as to how Man U's fitness dropped over their two years under Mourinho and took OGS a year to get it back to where it was before. The main reason we have conceded so many late goals is because we are not as fit as opponents. The reason we make so many mistakes is because players are tired. When Kane says the players were expected ot sort out the gym work themselves, just remind yourself of all the funny videos of the 1st team playing cricket and basketball this season.
