I assume you folks in England have a better read on this but, he's going to end up playing in both of those fucking Nations League matches isn't he? After coming off this brutal run of fixtures Southgate is just going to continue running him into the ground.
Yep, nailed it. Also keep in mind that the nations league is a Micky Mouse tournament with as much credibility and prestige as the Audi cup or the Emirates cup

Why does Kane get so much grief? I just don't understand it.

He was the nation’s darling in footballing terms.... every other clubs’ supporters were calling for him to be in the England squad and then he scored within minutes of his debut. Hero...... and then he claimed Eriksen’s goal.

You know what it’s like when someone is a success in England, people can’t wait to bring them down. It’s as if people were slowly building up their distain for him, waiting for him to do something wrong and then the Eriksen thing happened and it gave the haters something to shout about. Hodgson’s World Cup didn’t help when Harry’s free kicks and corners left a lot to be desired. His tweets leading up to Leicester’s title prob didn’t endear him to other fans either (watch our Leicester, we’re coming for you! Etc). But for me I think it all started with Eriksen’s goal.

Personally, even though it’s disrespectful, I don’t care too much about the dribbling/ugly/can’t talk properly/will never win anything for Spurs comments, it’s the ones who genuinely believe he’s an average or ‘crap’ player that get me. The worst of them are on the BBC site. So many people don’t understand football.

Anyway, in this particular instance I don’t think there was any malice at all towards Kane, it was just someone who got over-excited while being filmed and he used Kane because he’s our most famous player.

I don't think we've been on the right end of a referee since Poch had a go at the ref against Burnley or whoever a while back (Mike Dean?). The one that got him a ban.

It's almost like they will do whatever they can to us, like it's a 'lesson'

The thing is before that incident loads of people were saying that we should get tougher with refs as they think we won't complain so it's easy to give a decision against us.

He'll probably play in both of the Nations League matches, but possibly not the full 90 minutes in each game. I'd be disappointed if he played in the friendly as well. From Southgate's point of view he has to play him in competitive games and despite what people think of the tournament the Nations League is considered a competitive tournament by Southgate and his employers. To be fair It shouldn't only be down to the National Manger to give players a rest, the club has to take responsibility as well.

I have to respectfully disagree with this last bit. The club pays the player's wages so the club should be able to expect that the player will be available whenever he is needed. The national teams need to respect that these players are being paid millions by their clubs and shouldn't be running them into the ground. When you are talking about guys on Kane's level, they shouldn't play more than one match in these international breaks. That goes for other players like Sterling or KDB too. Obviously when you're talking Euros, World Cup, or Olympics happening during the offseason I feel differently, but this Nations League is a naked cash grab by UEFA and risking the health of the best players in Europe for a tournament that happens concurrent with the top leagues is professional malpractice in my opinion.

If Kane gets overplayed by Southgate (or even plays during Welsh friendly) and then subsequently gets injured, I will go to Southgate’s home and do a big steaming turd through his letter box.

Now let’s wait and see if usual suspects like Alexander-Arnold are miraculously pulled from squad.

Could not agree more about the Nations League. It's a scam and the most ironic thing about it is that English fans seem to give a shit about it because... reasons(?) but couldn't care less about the club world cup which is just as much of a cash grab but far more interesting
