Understand Kane’s frustration today, but he has to shoulder his share of the blame.

Where were his lambasting runs to challenge for a ball, shouting instructions to fire his team up? That’s the kind of play that motivates and he simply wandered around with his face looking like a slapped arse.

They all need to up their performances 100% and Harry is not immune from that, despite his talent.

I take solace that he looked awful after the Covid break but in the last 5 or so games it was the Harry of old. He dragged us to that great run to end the season.

I'm more worried that without him at his best we look like a mid table team.

I really don’t want Kane to leave next season as he’s the best striker I’ve seen at Spurs. However, He’ll be 28 next year and to maybe get the rebuild we need, we might need to sell him while we can still get maximum value.

It pains me to say that but the squad needs a complete rebuild and I can’t see where it comes unless we sell our prized asset.
I agree but the problem is it’s hard to trust anyone at the club not to make a complete and utter mess of spending the money.

His body language towards the end was awful and petulant.

I'm very surprised, would'nt expect it from him and there should be no excuses for it whoever you are.

p.s it would help if he had some fucking competition for his place.

The pity party in here is unreal. It’s one match — the first of the season. Half of our squad didn’t have a preseason. We didn’t get battered. We conceded an excellent goal and they parked the bus the remainder of the game. If we had scored one of our early chances the result would’ve been different. We can and will improve.

The Premier League champions conceded 3 at home against new boys Leeds yesterday. MW1 is often a shit show.

We did get battered if you watched the game, think of the countless chances they had, 1-0 flattered us, we hardly saw any of the ball either as per.

I agree we will improve but it doesn’t bode well going forward with the current squad we have, there’s only so much coaching Jose can do if we want to reach our goals, which is the key.

I watched the game — we were poor, but we didn’t get battered. We had more shots on target than them and had many key chances in the first half that we didn’t finish. Kane mistimed a clear tap in, Doherty sent a tap in straight at Pickford, Dele also fired straight into Pickford on a clear cut chance. Any of those chances go in and we probably would’ve beaten them — or at least not allowed them to play it long and sit in their own half for nearly all of the second half.

It wasnt a good sight - I think he is as frustrated as fuck by all this. Competition wont help - we arent creating much regardless even for the new striker.

You have one of the best strikers in the world and we are playing like a bunch of strangers

Think Bergwijn over Moura would help. He just seems more eager to put in the type of crosses Kane can work with (I know Bergwijn wasn’t very good today). I like what Moura has done since Mourinho has come to us, but Bergwijn can make it work a little more. Also, Dele being as useful as a poopy flavored lollipop doesn’t help things, either. When he performs like he did today, he just dashes any semblance of fluidity in attack.

I think unfortunately the anger towards Mou is blinding some people. We didn't get battered at all. Granted we were poor, especially second half but in the first half there were a number of times I thought we would score.

Yeah I think the doomsaying on here is a bit over the top. It was a depressing performance and people are rightly pissed off, but all this talk of sacking the manager and needing a complete rebuild is nonsense.

They didn't batter us lol

First half we had the better chances. Second half was very poor from us but never did they batter us.

Maybe he needs someone putting pressure on his starting position in the team?

He's got nobody at the moment. IF we had another striker who could come on and bang a couple of goals in it immediately puts pressure on him to perform. Nobody can tell me that wouldn't get more out of Harry Kane. He'd love that challenge.

I agree but we definitely need more new players and to move some on, surely?

Could it be Kane knows he will not be signing a new contract and we're about to see 12 - 18 months of effort a la Eriksen?

Fairly obvious he’s gonna want a move if we aren’t back in the champions league next summer. He obviously loves the club but he’s the best striker in the world and deserves better.

Agree on everything apart from the last bit. He is nowhere near the best striker in the world, he got close to it before the ankle injuries but not since

We definitely need a striker, I’m not sure there’s many other areas we can improve on without spending an absolute fortune though. Some proper competition at left back maybe. If likes of Rose, Lamela Aurier and Sissoko Could be moved on with replacements coming in even better. But we aren’t in need of major surgery imo.

My guess is he is just mentally tired of it all. You could see in the doc last week he was getting sick of his team mates messing up or not trying hard enough. That is now leading to him doing the same. I hope he can push through it and try to make things happen himself like he did at his peak, if his body allows.

I had hope we saw enough after lockdown to suggest players had got out of their post CL sulk and were ready to buy into Jose's plans, but that game yesterday suggests its still a major issue.

As has been said in the Bale thread, maybe we need something groundshaking like that just to give everyone at the club a lift, the players especially.
