If I didn’t want it to hurt that I had not won trophies, I would simply have turned up in any final.
TBVH, it tells me more about him than about the club. It has been said to death, but in that CL final he shouldn't have started over Lucas. That says everything - in his mind he feels he has grown bigger than the club.

What a mug , your club captain you should want to win every game no matter what, stop talking shit
Not a mug; he’s just being honest. The club he plays for now is the flat track bully of German football. Spurs were never that, thankfully.

I’m sure you’ll get people jumping to defend Kane here but I think it’s a valid criticism.

If we are talking about world class, best player in their position of their generation etc then you have to look at those big match, crunch-time situations. As in is this a player who was able to inspire and carry his team over the line? I would say he came up short in this respect.

It’s all very well saying he would have won something with better players around him but you can say that about anyone. Lots of average players have won trophies. But if we’re talking about world class players then the standards we are judging them by are different.
Had he carried us to a title or a CL win I think he’d be a lot more fondly remembered than being just another bloke who wins things with Bayern. Jamie Vardy will get a statue outside the King Power; Van Persie’s not getting one at Old Trafford.

Quite telling to me that the suggestion is it isn’t a disaster here, because it adds to the “it’s everyone else’s fault” that became apparent in the Neville interview. You were part of the leadership team, Harry. If standards weren’t there, you take some of the blame.

All true to be fair, if a team like Bayern, Madrid or City lose 2 in a row, social media thinks it’s a crisis. We’re nowhere near that stage but that’s the aim one day of course.

He's obviously never set foot in spurs community 🤨

He really doesnt need to say such things at all. Quite disappointing to hear. I can never imagine Son saying such a thing

Honestly, to me, it's a bit sad. He doesn't care about allegiances or being held up as a hero, all he wants to do is tick a box that says he won something. That's his sole motivation. That doesn't scream "winner's mentality" to me, more that he's desperate to avoid the embarrassment of having been one of the best players to never win anything.

Edit - and how fucking hard would it be for him to say a word or two about our start to the season? He doesn't have to be asked about it, just a passing "yeah no obviously I've seen they've started well, good luck to them" or something. No tweets, no nothing, it makes him look like a prick imo.

As much as I love Kane and would like to see him back at Spurs to go for Shearer's record, all this talk of trophies is tiresome. He was in three finals with Spurs and one with England, didn't turn up in any of them. Compare him to Gerrard, for instance, who pulled Liverpool kicking and screaming to at least two trophies (2005 CL and 2006 FA Cup). He failed Spurs as much as Spurs failed him imo (in finals anyway 👀)

We have ex players, such as trippier, lamela who like posts from people like son.

You'd think he'd do similar. It does reaffirm the belief I had that he's felt that he is bigger than spurs for a while.

Perhaps the club pandered to him too much. There was always talk about getting him onboard with new managers.

Exactly. He wouldn't even have to go to the effort of tweeting anything, just a like here and there would be a really low-effort way to kind of stay engaged with the fans and show that his affection for Tottenham wasn't as paper-thin as it very clearly is. If he'd gone to a club in the same league I could maybe understand his silence but the way he's been about us since moving just seems so off, like he's just "switched off" his attachment to Tottenham and there's no emotional connection there whatsoever.

I haven’t missed him like other players that have left over the years.

I also don’t think he’s got a deep affinity for us either, which is fine.

We move on and so does Kane.

Literally every one in world football thinks the same thing, other than spurs fans themselves. Is it in bad taste coming from Kane’s mouth? Maybe. It might be a bit of misinterpretation. But he’s not wrong.

The fact of the matter is, until we actually go out there and win something, be it a carabao, FA cup or any of the other legitimate trophies we’ll always be seen in this light. We will never be taken seriously no matter how close we come. I came to terms with that a long time ago. We just need to keep our heads down, keep pushing forward and prove everyone wrong. The only solid evidence of success as a club is trophies. That’s just how the modern game goes.

Doesn’t phase me one bit to be honest. Our day is coming, and Kane won’t be here to experience it. He made his choice to move on and he’s entitled to that. He just better hope Bayern don’t skip a beat all season because he’ll be up for the same ridicule he got when he was here.

He got his move, no need for him to come out with stuff like this. It’s pretty disrespectful to his old team mates if nothing else. He’ll win a Bundesliga for his troubles, big deal. CL or bust for him I’d say. Anything else and nobody here will care.
