That was a completely different situation though.

Afaik Barcelona had agreed a contract with him, but they let him leave because they couldn't register him due to some sort of wage gap

Maybe we should offer Harry a billion pound a week contract and then blame it on a wage gap when we keep paying him the same wages he's on now 🤔

Love Harry, but I was ready to let him go 3 years ago, if Man. City offered the 150m.

In hindsight I'm glad he stayed, we would have been fucked, but now seem's like the right time, as we don't need a saviour, hopefully.

Ange's style of football gives me so much hope that the team can more than compensate for no Kane

Agree with everything you say though wondering why not plural and use of singular when it comes to Ange's style of football!

Haaland did nothing of note in the FA or CL finals but because they're a top team with several world class players they still win those games
I'm so tired with comments about how he should drag us over the line when we played better teams who have several players on his level
Exactly!

If a team has one world-class attacking player, a strong opponent has a pretty decent chance of nullifying that player. If a team has several world-class attacking players...good luck with that.

As great as Ronaldo and Messi were when Real and Barca each had a spell of dominating European football, there were plenty of big games (cup finals and league title deciding wins) where their opposition was fairly successful at nullifying Ronaldo / Messi, only for other players to come up with the goods. They had players like Bale, Di Maria, Ozil, Benzema, Eto'o, Villa, Henry etc. playing alongside them though.

I don't know for sure, but Kane has almost certainly earned more PL points for us with his goals than any other player in our history. He also has the record for the most London derby goals and has a very good scoring record against the "big clubs". Criticising him for not managing to single-handedly win cup finals, during all of which he was either not match-fit or was fatigued (us & England are both guilty of overplaying him), is just silly.

Yeah this is fair. The closest we got to that was Kane, Eriksen, Alli and Son but by the time we reached CL final Dele had already declined massively, Kane wasnt fully fit, Eriksen was jaded. Son was the only one still on an upward trajectory.

Even Vertonghen and Toby were not close to their very best.

I think Poch messed up the FA Cup semi vs Chelsea and Dembele had that declining performance against United in the other semi.

So difficult circumstances for us to get past.

Still, it is also true that Kane was quite invisible in these games.

It would likely never happen but I would be targeting Sane or Pavard if Bayern can't stump up the cash and are open to any sort of "swaps".

Both have been linked with moves away btw - Pavard one year left - Sane two

I doubt this profile of player will want to come to Tottenham, with no European football. But nice idea!

But that’s the point though isn’t it? City didn’t offer the £150m… and no one is yet offering what we would be willing to sell him for.

Until they do, he isn’t going anywhere. And even then, Kane will need to want to go there and agree terms.

So as much as we may be willing to sell and Kane may be willing to go, a lot needs to fall into place for it happen.

But is that better for the two, three seasons after that when hes gone next summer in all probability?

Its more the medium term that people are thinking about, as opposed to just wanting one more season of kane irrespective of the circumstances.
I really get that thought process, I really do. Just can't see us replacing his goals. If Ange manages to sort the defence and spread Kane's output around what he has then great and I know that's the plan..... but where would we have been if Kane went last season? With the way our squad downed tools for previous managers (sorry for drifting off topic again) regardless of whether fans likes said managers, we'd of been f**ked without Kane and his goals..... Sadly the Kane stay or go debate is far too complex than it should be.... Thanks Danny😞

Yup. In fact, increasingly, with the main exception of: there’s not an appropriate bid on the table, I’m now really struggling with the case for him staying, especially as he’s dropping deep in a system that doesn’t encourage that

Love him. Just bored of the circus and listening to it before the game, every kick of the ball and at the end.
Yeah that commentator on CBS yesterday was infuriating.
I’m not a violent bloke but I’d like to break all of his fingers with a hammer.

And feet.... I’d like to break his feet as well.

He will be sorely missed, but my god it would have been 10 times worst if it had happened in the conte/Jose era. Management styles and tactics geared towards one or two star players and an over reliance on a top goal scorer to bail you out on s counter attack or moment of brilliance. You can see in two games that Ange will want the whole team to contribute and whilst Kane would attempt and eventually shine in any system we have an opportunity to get over his loss quicker this time around

I started subconsciously timing how long it took commentators to bring up when and where Kane would go during games last season. Quite often it was less than 2 minutes into a game. I'm so sick of it.

And the next Kane-article from Kicker Germany... have they missed something regarding Joe Lewis ?

Kane: Breakthrough at the end of the week?

FC Bayern and Harry Kane have long agreed a deal. Now Tottenham have to be convinced. In any case, Spurs owner Joe Lewis does not want to let Kane go free of charge in 2024 and forego around 100 million euros if the striker does not extend. That could be the big plus in the next round of negotiations at the end of the week and perhaps lead to a breakthrough.

Btw... in another article Kicker say that the Bayern-bosses will first visit Levy and get Kane... and shortly after travel to Manchester and finish the Walker-deal 🤷‍♂️ ... the tour of England 😳
