I like his reply. Somethings are better left unknown to the public.

Whilst his brother runs around leaking to anyone that would listen. Righto

what he means is “don’t listen to anyone that isn’t me, I’ve been rumbled cos I’m not that lovely chap you all thought I was. I’m a bit of a snake but I didn’t want you all to find out this way. I’m really hoping that you forget this quickly and go back and buy my shirts and shit, I’m not the sharpest tool in the box and I hope you aren’t too (obviously)”

Something like that.

He has his take, we have ours. Personally I'm happy to leave it at that, and I think that we all need to. The most important thing now is that he is committed to scoring as many as he can for the team, which he is, and I'm sure that he will.

Let's hope he doesn't do another shitty interview towards the end of the season of we are out of the CL places but still in with a shout.

Even if he signs a new contract with a release clause unless he has another very good season I suspect we will be in exactly same position all over again with nobody willing to offer what Levy wants. Only way that doesn’t happen is that at a lower price we may get a bidding war. So if he hasn’t signed a new contract with release clause I wonder what he’d do if he has an average season this year. Run it down or just decide to stay for career.

If this was club sanctoned it was dumb imo. Best just stfu and say nothing.
'Its done now and I wanna just get on with playing' is all he had to say if asked.
What bugs the fk out of me aout this whole 'gentlemans agreement' tripe is not one person in the media has asked the question Do we really believe Levy said 'If someone comes in for you then you can go, regardless of the offer?'
Can't really see that happening myself.

I suspect many will disagree, but I think to some extent he's got a point - what seems like the lowest of the low to us fans probably looks pretty normal to players, agents, club insiders etc.

He sees what he did as just how football works - and to be honest it often is. However, if he thinks fans will ever accept it as just that, he's very wrong.

Let’s just enjoy his final season with us and hope he can help contribute to it in a positive way. No point from a fan perspective worrying about what went on in the summer. He’ll be committed and try his best at least. Many players wouldn’t.

Like having an interview with Sky Sports Gary Neville, stating a desire to play in the same team as DeBruyne, as the final run-in towards the end of the season creeps upon us, Champions League qualification hangs in the balance & a League Cup Final to play?

Seems the "some things are better left unknown to the public" is only relevant when it suits him.

In this latest interview you can see/hear that he's getting better advice- but still not good.
For me at least he'll never get the same 'legend' status, but I'll still support him when he plays for us

He is England captain, stfu is not an option. He has to eventually speak to the press and had to answer these questions sooner or later. Not sure what else he could have said.

As Kane's side has never mooted a number from the gentleman's agreement, I believe we can conclude that Levy was wiling to let him go (ie - would not say, no way, you have three years left) assuming someone met Spurs valuation. That was the deal. Since no one is stating otherwise, a fair assumption. Given history with numerous other players, there is no way it could have been taken any other way. If he wanted a release clause, that could have been inserted. Levy, so far as I understand, does not do those. Levy always operates on market value to Spurs, whether buying or selling. Had a release clause had been inserted at the last time it was re-upped, I can assure everyone it would not have been for less than what we sold Bale for. Pre-covid, it would have been at least 150M. That City, by numerous accounts, offered 75M with add-ons, after they had shelled out 100M on a surplus to requirements Grealish, is, at best, insulting.

I would not have done it for less than 150M GBP rising to 200M based on team and individual markers. He is the reigning goal and assist provider in the EPL. 75M - you must be having a laugh. If Grealish were anywhere near the level of DeBruyne, he would have cost at least 150M. He isn't. Harry is.

Harry needs to get down to business. Either sign a new deal (strongly doubt there will be a release clause unless it is at least 150M - he will be very well paid and deservedly so), or accept you are playing for Spurs at 200k/week for the next three years (forfeiting 7-8M GBP a year), at which point he may pick where he wants to go. City value him at less than what Bale was worth in 2013. IMO, that's where Harry should be furious. If City really wanted him, they would have stumped it. But they didn't. They wanted him at a reasonable price. That's not what he is worth to Spurs. Not even close. Until January, all he can do is put his head down and work. Can't see us selling him then either. Next summer, I doubt 75M plus add-ons will be enough. If his minutes are properly managed, he could have another 5 productive years while being in it to win more Golden Boots. One more ties him with Thierry Henry. 54 Spurs goals from Greaves. 13 England goals from Rooney. 94 goals from Shearer in the EPL. All within reach (Shearer being the toughest)

My unsolicited advice for Harry would be to say no more, re-up the contract as best he can, keep scoring goals and try to win things here. If he remains the best striker in the PL in a year, it will still be market value to Spurs. If he still wants to go, and Levy gets his number, he will be allowed to go. Incidentally, that applies to every player on the Spurs roster. Surely Harry and his team knew the score.
