Too much smoke on this one for me.

Whether he actually leaves is one thing but the fact he wants to is bad enough.

Kane is 28, there is no way he wants to be playing conference or europa football next season, and we are a minimum of another year away from even playing in the CL again, and that is if things go well.

The galling thing is, with a decent manager we could be where United are. They are no great shakes, but they will be playing CL football. If genuinely wants to join them, we've failed as a club.
He wants to win trophies like league and champ lge. Not Europa.
Utd are well away from winning the league.

but the main thing that’s changed is that Kane would consider it

You're right, this is the key point. But it's not really surprising. Just as he's approaching the peak years of his career we seem to be moving in the opposite direction. In fairness the best players at nearly every club are always linked with moves away at some stage, Ronaldo, Rooney, Gerrard, Neymar, Mbappe, etc. But the timing of these Kane stories is in keeping with the respective trajectories of club and player. Let's face it, he's a level above the Europa League and the dire football we trade in these days.

I agree. United always look like they're a few bad results from being plunged into another crisis. I certainly can't see them seriously challenging for the league or Champions League any time soon.

However they still would be a step up from us right now.

That’s what JPB claims to justify his piece. I love to know if they’ve written similar in the past. Personally even if he does want out I can’t see it this summer. The money just isn’t there

He also says he doesn't expect him to leave.

I would also be very surprised if Kane left this year. There are less than a handful of clubs who could even dream of affording him, and how many of those would be willing to negotiate with Levy at the kind of prices he would demand for the deal?

Just listened to Ornstein and Pitt-Brooke do some 17 min video.
They know he wants to leave because people have told them, and he's DESPERATE to leave....5 sentences later - but they don't think he definitely will and he'll probably stay.
Combined with some.lengthy article JPB wrote last Saturday ?‍♂️

What a load of bollox.
I thought the Athletic was better than this click bait shite.

They're not exclusive though. He could be desperate to leave but unable to. So therefore staying.

we may have our spurs blinkers on but when a reporter says "he is desperate to leave" do you genuinely believe that?

My guess is that there is some smoke there. It's in Harry's best interests to put pressure on Levy whether he ends up leaving or not. He knows things aren't going well and he's one of very few people that can actually put pressure on him.

I'm sure Harry's ideal scenario is to stay and win big things with us, breaking Shearer and Greaves' records and earning a whopper of a new contract. The problem is right now the thoughts of us actually competing for big things feels wildly optimistic. He is one of the best players in the world and deserves a lot more than what has happened this season, struggling for an EL place and getting knocked out of cups by Zagreb and Everton.

Having to sell Kane due to a perceived lack of ambition would be a huge failure on Levy's part so you would hope it could encourage him to show ambition in the transfer market in the summer to appease him.

By respectfully letting it be known he would entertain a transfer is a win-win for him really. He either gets a big move or maybe even a nice big contract and a promise from Levy to match his ambitions. Massive summer coming up for Levy with a new manager to sort and the Kane issue to resolve.

Is this a time to maybe get a bit cute and look into a swap with Dortmund for Haaland?A younger less injury prone Kane who we will never get a chance of getting in any other window. This could be the only way I’d even consider letting Kane go. Also, Dortmund may not be the guaranteed trophies Kane craves. Or maybe try to set up a deal with Haaland before we sell Kane.

Haaland wouldn't come here knowing he has the pick of the mega clubs, same applies to Mbappe.

This is not going to happen, for so many reasons

No off course not, but my point was about the click baity type stories/videos that The Athletic were running.
H may in fact want out, but unless they've spoken directly to him about it I don't see how they can be so definitive one way or the other ?‍♂️
