Manchester City are lining up a shock move for Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks, according to reports. There is more competition for places after Jose Mourinho signed Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton this week and the manager knows he has to sell if he wants more signings.

Would be a shockingly bad move for Winks. He'd only be there to fulfil HG quota like Danny Drinkwater at Chelsea. He'll get plenty of game time for us as an 8 now instead of being thrown in as a 6.

Straight from the horse's bottom.
'According to reports' is hack journalese for
I didn't make this shit up (see what I did there)
someone I met down the pub did.

It is laughable, but...

£40m for Winks? I'd take their arm off at the shoulder for that.

Put that £40m towards Dybala...

Comical how undervalued he is by some on here.
I’m not sure he’s undervalued. He seems to not do very much very well at all. Have a look at his stats. He doesn’t excel at anything. Why not sell and trust our winner of a manager to find other potential winners for our team. In my view we should sell.

Not sure how he'd play under a very good manager who would improve him and play with world class players as well as hoover up a load of trophies.

We're already struggling with homegrown players. Unless we brought in grealish or someone to replace him i'd say no.

We’ve got one Winks on our books, we only need one more to get a blink, selling him would be madness.

I’d rather have him in the squad and complain he’s not good enough rather than have £40m and see him doing well elsewhere.

He started off well under poch but those injuries I think affected his form after that.
I still don't think we have seen the best of him, probably because we haven't seen what he can really do, I say keep him and give him more time.

Or we could get someone better from abroad for £40m. Winks is a competent midfielder but let's not pretend we couldn't do better.

Happy to keep him, don't mind if he goes.

And let’s face it, it’s not Grealishtic to expect us to sign Jack....

We're very light on homegrown players at the moment so not sure that's even possible
