If it went in off the head of the Japanese player on the ground then would it be offside because his feet are in front of the ball?
There is probably not even a rule for that.
Why do we have to see the definitive angle? Shouldn't we be able to trust the decision makers? Or is that just how much we don't trust those in charge?
A player off the field is determined to be on the goal line for the purposes of offside which is level with the ball in this case.If it went in off the head of the Japanese player on the ground then would it be offside because his feet are in front of the ball?

That's what I was thinking and mentioned earlier. If they've got goal line tech that can tell if a ball crosses the goal line by a millimetre, surely that will also work in this case?Does the chip in the ball give them any info? Hence why no photo.

They've since shown an overhead shot which seems to show that the ball was in but Souness seems to have chosen his beef for tonight and so everyone is still going on about it.

At the time I thought it was out, but that was only based on the angles given. Having seen others since I think it was the right decision.Maybe I'm biased, but it was the whole "projection" of the ball which needed to go out, and not just the bottom of the ball not touching the line. Though I think var made a good decision.
I meant the officials not FIFA. I don't trust them one bit. But technology akin to goal line technology and this semi automated offside stuff I do.It's a world cup in Qatar.
In December.
With no beer in the stadiums.
There's no beer in the stadiums Easley!
Now ask yourself if you trust them.
GLT only looks at the area between/near the goal posts.
And the chip in the ball is only an accelerometer to track when it is kicked. It gives no location information.
if you ask me that should be classed as out idc, thats bollocks the ball is literally out, even if its in by 1mm

So you have a problem with the rule stating 100% of the ball needs to cross the ball in order for it to count as being out/goal?
its literally out though, you do know from higher angles the ball gets wider right? The ball would have been out, and with the height of that camera shot the width of the ball will be making it look like its in.So you have a problem with the rule stating 100% of the ball needs to cross the ball in order for it to count as being out/goal?
It's so tight you can't trust any frame taken at an angle. If you can't see a direct side on view of it where the camera directly follows the line you can't make a judgement.its literally out though, you do know from higher angles the ball gets wider right? The sole of the ball would have been out, and with the height of that camera shot the width of the ball will be making it look like its in.
