Ive never been impressed with him, amazes me that he's still at Real. And he's still Argentinas no.9. He's not exactly Batistuta is he?

He's very good but any striker at Madrid will suffer to a degree because Ronaldo is the focal point.

He has scored 100 goals for Madrid.

A mate of mine insists he's seen somewhere that this as as good as done. I'm always skeptical about comments like that, especially since he didn't elaborate how or where he had seen this.
His comments were before the story about Higuain relocating his family.
I do think if we maintain our top four spot, getting CL football next year, there will be a couple of big signings sanctioned. Two intrnational class players, one CM and one CF. A top CM so we don't miss either of Sandro or Dembele if they are unavailable, as we don't look quite as dominant in the middle. Moutinho rumours have resurfaced, wpukd fit the bill, could easily play with either without uosetting our balance, but may be too expensive. Damaio rumours continue, and now Higuain, either would give us the focal point we have been missing to capitalise on our regular possession dominance.
Beyond that, I'm not sure we'd need much more anyway. Maybe a younger more agile backup keeper, but less urgent as we could promote Archer or Vigouroux. Ideally loan deals for them first to gain experience at a more competitive level, but remains an option either way. Outside of that, last night showed we need to add to our options of pacey wide outlets, without Lennon and Bale, we lack thrust and incision, also lose some of our ability to play on the counter without their pace. Townsend could become a real option, going well at QPR so far. Falque and Pritchard were other options in house, but lacking experience and exposure so far. See how their loans go. So, we do have options within the club if we choose to assign all transfer funds to CM and CF.

I fail to see how we're much different with Bale.

No, Bale won't score 30+, but he also will continue to draw most of the attention. I actually think, with the way we are setup, the transition really would be pretty seamless for Higuain.

I do understand what you are saying to an extent.

It's just not going to happen.

It sort of depends on if we are willing to break the transfer record for a guy who is a proven #9.

Only 25 as well, and if those rumored wages are correct, the fit would be there.

If we land a CL berth, our current strikers, or anything at or near of their abilities, won't get it done. Higuain would be a marked increase in talent, and for that we will have to pay a substantial transfer fee.

Whilst he may not be coming to us, he is leaving, they have tried to get rid of him for 3 years now as he was signing of the older era and Mourinho has vetoed the sale of Higuain every year because he would only have two strikers left one of which is Ronaldo out of position just in case. They also seem to be signing Falcao.

Real Madrid wouldnt sell to a CL rival so expect him to go Norf London or Russia, France and Italy

He or any other suitable forward would score for fun in this team/league.

Yep, you are quite right, Higuain was a Calderon purchase. Perez came in and bought Benzema, wanting to make him the focal point of the attack. Higuain just kept on scoring important goals though and shoving his fingers up at the hierarchy, much to Mourinho's delight, and Perez's chagrin.

If this were to somehow happen, it would be tremendous.

I reckon we should take higuain, benzema and modric off their hands due to 'the partnership deal' and give them ade, defoe, walker, huddlestone, livermore, bentley, gomes and maybe ask for £10 million as a sweetener... Just to even things up a bit....

Ha, that's exactly the kind of deal I used to do when I played 2 player on FM.

Tottenham, Manchester City and Arsenal have been alerted after Real Madrid confirmed they will sell Gonzalo Higuain.
Tottenham failed in a bid to sign the Argentine last summer and Real Madrid general manager Jose Angel Sanchez said: 'In a great club like Real, we believe we need two number nines of a high level. We have Benzema and Higuain, Higuain will leave, Benzema will stay and two others will come.'
Real Madrid, meanwhile, are continuing to monitor Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini as they formulate their summer rebuilding plans.

Best striker we could actually, possibly, maybe get.

Arsenal will go for Jovetic, I think City will get Cavani, Higuain could realistically go to us if those fall into place. And quite frankly, I think, for our purposes, Higuain would mean more to us than those other two to their new clubs.
