Wasn’t the consensus earlier in the window that he wasn’t a great fit for Ange’s system? What has changed?

Stats can kind of be misread though right? Say for example if Dier didn't attempt many tackles, he wouldn't have committed errors leading to a shot or gave away penalties (this is rhetorical btw), whereas if Bremer (who I never watched) played with a more aggressive defensive role, these other things come along for the ride. I think you want more a ratio of these downsides of aggressive defending to the number of tackles, blocks, etc.
Not to mention also that the data seems fucked. FBRef has Dier with 2818 mins in PL last season with Bremer having 2634 (7% fewer...). Not nearly the discrepancy in minutes implied in the spider chart which seems to show something like half...

If it turns out he’s actually in the building, that’s a massive step forward, when you compare it to other deadline day deals like Dybala etc.

Personal terms can’t be an issue and fee must be nearly there..

You mean like Eto'os car in the car park (allegedly) back in the day.

Oh 100% hence the sarcasm indicator (/s)

I cherry picked those ones out to make a joke. Stats can be manipulated to prove/support whatever position you want.

Case in point, after taking out goals scored and xg you can make richarlison look like a better player than kane

His passing game isn't the best though, is it?

That’s an interesting question.

I personally don’t think it’s that bad but I will concede that it’s not really part of his game and bringing the ball out of defence isn’t either really. He’s a really strong powerful defender who loves to defend with a real threat at set pieces. He’s quick but not lightening.
I think he’s a fabulous defender and I’m of the belief that Ange could coach him to another level.

Although they’re both right footed I’d take him and Schuurs and we have four real quality CB’s. 😊

Bremer's a great defender but I can't imagine one of him, Romero or VdV on the bench tbh. Romero and VdV are building a great partnership.

You'd think either of the three could play together though.
Not sure having a cover man that always sit on the bench and rot is the best solution.
If we have three CBs and it doesn't matter who of them that play then that's a healthy situation for me. I'd take three stellar options and Academy as depth cover any day.

It's a good problem to have until it causes unrest, and CB partnerships are built on consistency. With Phillips and Dorrington progressing nicely and Vuskovic further down the line, I'd look for an older, experienced player for a couple of seasons as cover and see how things pan out. Any player of Romero, VdV, Bremer quality will want to play every match.

Which is why someone like Lloyd Kelly would probably make more sense.

Kelly would make sense but an older backup would fit the bill imo, as long as he had the right skillset for Ange's style. Don't know who that would be, but somebody in the Rudiger mould I guess.
