Tonight’s reports are that he will earn nearly 1 million PER WEEK

He will earn in one week the annual salary of 10 life saving surgeons on UK rates

Or one Bale is paid the same as 520 surgeons.

Who would you miss more

It is utterly obscene

Definitely Bale, none of the surgeons have played for Spurs have they!

He could easily set up generations of his family for life on 100,000 grand per week I’d imagine...

No-one needs in the region of 500,000 to 600,000 grand, it’s obscene.

100,000 grand per week is obscene really too but seems to be new lowest rate.

You could buy a very good London family home in a good location per week plus have money left over for a luxury sedan. The fact top flight professional footballers all don't have real estate empires is itself a travesty. For what he'll be getting in China you can add a decent Zone 2 apartment to that.

These are predominantly working class kids. They have cheap tastes for the most part (relative to old rich). They're not beholden to increasing share value for stockholders. They're not living in the same world as the billionaire class. Eriksen shops at IKEA.

It is a crying shame that young players chose professional obscurity for money they could never hope to even spend. There is no possession in the world that Bale cannot afford. There are perhaps 15 properties on Earth he couldn't afford to pay for in cash, in places he'd never want to live. He's earned well over £100m in salary alone since joining Madrid. His last contract was worth £150m. This is before commercial earnings.

He’d be on ~$60m/yr i believe it works out to. Pretty sure it makes him highest paid athlete. Only just though.

Yeah for one or two years? Some MLB have 10 to 15 year guaranteed contracts. All of them crazy. Not gonna begrudge them earning it though. But how long before all this bubble pops everywhere?

Im disappointed GB never came back for a swan song but im thinking he has basically decided to retire. Probly due to his body and the injuries. I know he is only 30 but with all the injuries his body must be 35. Maybe mentally he has had enough. Im just glad i got to enjoy his amazing runs and goals as a spurs player and hope he makes enough to buy wales.

It’s his wage demands which are why his options are limited. His wage demands are his choice. He could accept 200k a week or something to stay in Europe but seeing as it’s all about money, he’s forced to chase the money to China.

So I don’t buy this limited options stuff. The reasons he has no other options is because he wants the most money as possible. That’s his prerogative but he will also open himself to criticism as to his motivations and choices.

He never demanded the wages RM are paying him, they offered him that amount to extend his contract.

If he is off to China, the Chinese club are the ones offering to pay him the wages to try and get him to say yes.

Demanding is asking for something, not being offered it.

I still don’t believe he will accept it, why take a high risk moving to a country with high pollution with a young family.

Its Supply and Demand mate. Its how the western world works..oooops!
Oh of course, if something is crap it can never be changed
Silly me

Oh, can I politely recommend Bertrand Russell’s famous book “the history of western philosophy”. A better and more learned take on the values and ideas behind western democratic ideals than that throwaway line

And oh...China is in the western world is it....:whistle:

Pretty sure one of top tier European clubs would have been interested in him for the rumoured fee he is going to China for if he had been prepared to accept a pay cut from his rumoured £600k a week before tax.

But why should he drop his wages to help RM out. They are the ones that offered him the increase. Why would anyone drop a massive amount of money they are scheduled for.

I wish he stays the course to fuck them over.

If i was bale i'll move. 1m per week, 3years thats 144m. Not like i havent won anything. He will never be the man, and as a second fiddle he will never meet someone like cr to lead him again. Not to mention the endorsement deals in china. Absolutely no brainer. Straight up vacation mode

What a waste of the last of his playing days at the top level. I know its a shitload of money but it seems crazy to me. How much money does he need? A real shame as I'd have loved to see him in the Prem again.

Who knows how much money he needs. He might think that he’ll have to retire in a year due to injuries.

He’s reached his peak at both club and country level anyway.

This one is completely, totally done and dusted - European media everywhere.

Reality: Bale comes on in the 60' in tonights ICC match vs Atleti(there was just 2 reds for fighting - carvajal and obvi diego costa - In a friendly. Where the score is 6-1. Tasty).

this one isnt typical - there is no way a chinese club is going to make money off this move. the billionaire owner will eat the loss, for what I dont know. ego maybe.

he couldnt afford to buy Spurs. 100 million is more than you or I will ever see but it wouldnt get him in the door of the places where the truly wealthy hang out.

Maybe, after Real Madrid’s 3-7 spanking by Atletico Madrid, Gareth Bale will outlast Zidane. After such a defeat the question must surely be asked -,have the Real Madrid players stopped playing for their coach?

Yap. Chinese people prefer to throw money in their own league rather then give it to the "already rich" white people :ROFLMAO:

Anyway... this sounds like retirement funds. Maybe after that we can get him and a youth coach or ambassador.

He always looks like he will retire early. Not sure when he was last 100% fit.

Just a strange move, with his family happy in Spain and to possibly go to China that’s a huge upheaval for them.
Yes the money is unbelievable but not like he needs it but I guess who wouldn’t take it that crazy money.

Hypothetical: would Bale be getting less grief for his move to China if at any point in the past he had made a BAE-like admission that he didn't enjoy playing football but that he pursued it as a career because he was good at it?

Indeed...whoever you are, whatever your trade whether it be in sports, movies, music and whatever you are worth...£1m a week is something you must seriously consider.
Dunno really. 350k a week, 500k, whatever...how much money can you spend/ save? Tbh I wouldn't know what to do with it when it gets to that level.
Still a mystery to me what he's playing at. I can only think he does what his agent tells him.
