You'll love what's on the back of the Sun (I think) today.

Just caught some of BBC breakfast news.

Gareth Bale is on the back.

Apparently, it says he's been frozen out and Levy is furious with him etc etc.

All doom and gloom.

There is so much smoke out there you must surely suspect a fire...

Marca are not worth bothering about, but other stuff are starting to not add up, AVB not commenting on Bale all of a sudden, probably when we as supporters needed him to, his face looked uncmfortable too, as did Bales getting on the bus too...Bales sudden injury, we have been here before.

I hope its all bollocks, but deep down we all fear something is not right.I would be against selling Bale, but as the sum creeps higher and higher i start to ask myself is he worth over 100m? i doubt it...would i sell him for 100m?...if he asked to move and AVB was given most of that dosh, then i wouldn't be throwing myself off the nearest bridge, but i wouldn't be celebrating either.

We all said Luka was not Berba , but he was half the player in his last season and we got less for him, i wouldn't want that to happen with Gaz.

if the stories were vaguely close to each other i'd agree with the no smoke without fire but some saying bale frozen out, others saying Levy demanding talks with bale, all sounds like total bullshit to me.

I think Bale and Levy are both secretly not sure what to do, the biggest club in world football throwing themselves at you, and DL thinking ''fuck off....oh hang on how much?'' don't compare the Luka/Chelsea stance by DL, that was more about not selling to Chelsea...and is wasn't 100m

All this talk about 80 then 100 M offers (was that pound or euros?). Could someone please post an official link where someone from Spurs of RM that verifies this?

I love that articles start of with the reality of these figures being considered axiomatically true and go on to develop arguments from there.

" we have been good to bale gave him a new contract almost every year?Stuck by him i cant see him doing a modric or berbatov i think he will respect the club and stay"

This is where people are clouded by the fact that they are fans and not players or owners. Good to Bale - doesn't matter. We gave him a new contract beause he outperformed his old and we recognized that and wanted to extend the tenure so we would have the benefit of his rise in value.

Staying has nothing at all to do with respecting the club (as much as I wish it were otherwise). He will stay if he is paid fairly and if he has a reasonable chance of reaching his career goals AND (this is where it's good for Spurs) he has a good non football life.

Do you really think he wants to play in Madrid? I do not.

@aspurious1 - absolutely right - if there was an 80+GBP offer it probably had loads of conditions, was paid out over many years blah blah. To quote Randy Moss - there has been no "straight cash homie" offer.

"Where there's smoke there's fire" doesn't really apply when theres a bunch of people running around with smoke machines trying to convince everyone there's been a fire the whole time.

Well, that's a good point. But I think the reason those fees are discussed is because that's probably the only fee that Levy would reasonably accept. I guess it's possible we could all be wrong and he'll sell him for 60m or something, but that would be widely seen as bad business. But you're still right, it could be true that Madrid won't be able to offer that much regardless, making all of our discussions moot.

Also, it helps me not to cry.

I honestly think it's the press making stuff up and it snowballing. Talk of £80m or £51m + Di Maria + Coentrao seem like values that even Madrid wouldn't sanction. I don't think Levy would accept those anyway.

I still think there is much more to come from Bale, he's only had half a season at the level he is at now (he was good beore but since January he's been ridiculous) and going back a year he wasn't even regarded as our best player. He's progressed a lot, just imagine how good he'll be when we add a few more players around him and he get's settled into his new role.

Just a quick google search and I got this: (May be innacurate, who knows but would be close) for 2012

Messi 253,496.50
Ronaldo

287,212.79
Van Persie

240,384.62
Rooney 240,384.62

Pay Bale something reasonable if you think he's a top 5 world player and you don't have to hear about him leaving all the time. Unfortunately with no salary cap and financial fair play a farce you cannot hide from the actual market for player salaries.

So many people who seem to know Bale intimately on here

At the FIFA 14 mocap day he was dressed in head to toe Louis Vuitton and turned up an hour late with an enormous entourage

He also wouldn't do anything his agent didn't explicitly tell him to

(My favourite bit was where the agent freaked out at a real-time screenshot of Bale in a white kit that wasnt Spurs' - "what's that? Whose kit is that? Take that down!" Was FIFA's Ultimate Team)

Those who think he's a little boy who wouldn't say boo to a goose are very much mistaken. He very much knows his own worth

Bale has been away from home and away from the best influences on him his parents and his partner. Once he is back with them and their influence I am hoping things will quickly calm down.

I think both Levy and Bale have better things to do like preparing for the upcoming season. Why waste time like news deprived fans and entertain something bore out of the imagination of some obsessive idiots.
If Levy is not prepared to sell, he does not need to say anything. The staff at the club do not sit in front of their pc and press f5 every five minutes. They actually do work.
