So, we are not buying anyone but baldini is working on a lot of transfers (out I assume). I don't like the sound of letting fringe players go and not denying that capoue could leave. Depends who he is talking about, but why make ourselves weaker?

Not wanting to have a pop, he has done well so far, but I get the impression he just doesn't know how to handle a squad and the number of players we have scares him. He keeps saying he still has to get to know some players, well maybe playing them once in a while will help? Or failing that, watch some youtube! I jest, but seriously he must have watched all of our games so he should know for example that capoue looked the nuts before his injury vs arsenal.

I really don't want Andros back taking long shots all day...I hope TS has a word with him about that.

Agree. Playing him on the left helps reduce that and makes him cross more, so hopefully if he does play it will be there. Although now we are playing with two strikers that position is taken by eriksen.

I thought he was using that as an example of 'any' player, not just singling out the newbies.
Agree. I thought the whole interview was full of quite subtle, and fairly positive nuances. Press conferences and the like can be 'kin nerve-wracking, and for someone not used to that spotlight, I thought he did very well. He seemed much more thoughtful and considered in his replies that Harry ever did - Harry always seemed to be on auto-pilot, with a string of well-practised throw-away-nonsense ready for the lazy journos to lap up. TS might have a similar accent but he seems a lot more constructive in his thought processes. Well, that's my take, anyway.

I think there is a trading mentality behind much of Spurs' transfer dealings that says that come Jan, there are clubs who are desperate to make signings; and for that reason it doesn't harm to over-buy in the summer. You over-load in some areas, see who settles/maiontains fitness and who doesn't, and then you're prepared to sell one or two in Jan because you figure you can get a slight premium then. Meanwhile, you benefit because where you needed, say 4 players, by signing 7 you have a better chance of 4 having settled. Some take longer though, even though they might be fundamentally good players, and you take a hard-nosed trading decision. He seemed to be saying that he understands the pressures from some players wanting game-time and that if push comes to shove some might leave. What he doesn't allude to is the price having to be right. If there's a $£ to be made, why not. But if the £$ offers donut come in, then let them stay.

It would be more professional though if they stuck a microphone in the back of the room too.

Pretty good performance really.

I am still disappointed about the whole Capoue thing, as a genuinely think he could be very good for us, especially in light of Sandro's regular injury problems.

Sherwood seems to be happy to let him go, going on everything said previously and that conference.

I can't believe people haven't yet discussed his mentality on not playing the likes of Capoue.

He's saying that he picks Bentaleb and Holtby ahead of Capoue because he trusts the aforementioned duo. Does this mean if we signed Messi he'd play Kane because he knows Kane from the yoof team? It makes no sense. "Yea but we've all seen Messi"? Well why isn't he watching Spurs week in week out? He's part of the transfer committee, you'd assume he watches the team to see where we need players to make suggestions?

I hope we don't give him too much say-so in this window as per shipping out players. The likelihood is he won't be our manager come August, so he shouldn't be allowed to get rid of players.

Having said that credit to him for playing Bentaleb who looks a real player. Shame he's just a similar mould to what we already have in Dembele, Capoue, Paulinho and Sandro.

There were no lies in that interview and all as it stands currently at spurs. Not sure why people are trying to find negatives in it?

Because of the exact reasons outlined in the post from dimispur above yours.

Fans are worried who are classed as 'fringe players' by Tim. Capoue and holtby are almost definitely included in this, perhaps chadli and even lamela. The club really is a joke if we are selling players after 6 months without giving them a fair chance. It looks unlikely we will bring anyone in and we look intent in making our squad weaker in this window. Not a huge amount of positives to take from that?

I don't think it's their technical abilities he's talking about when he says he doesn't know them that well, but their personalities and the way he feels they'll fit into the team unit.

People are not discussing it because what you are saying is fucking ridiculous. Are you seriously comparing Messi to Etienne Capoue? Get a grip. You are talking up Etienne Capoue like he is the fucking grand master of the central midfield and you can't belive how Sherwood doesn't pick him. In reality Capoue is a decent player at best and Bentaleb is his equal or even better at the age of 19.

Against United Capoue had about 55% pass completion (the worst player on the pitch), almost half of his passes went to United. Bentaleb came on and had a 91% pass completion. Sure, Capoue might be a better defender but he better be if he is going to give away the ball almost half the time he is trying to pass it.

Why is Sherwood not playing Capoue such a massive issue? Oh wait... Why am I even asking... It's just an excuse to bitch and moan about Sherwood because your man crush AVB isn't here anymore. Get over it and start supporting the team instead of causing more unrest within the supporter community, fucking waste of time.

It's a good job we've got Paulinho (Frank Lampard!!) back soon if we’re not going to be looking for another striker in this window, after we've let JD go...
