Should just pay up for Neves or Bissouma.

Both are better than Kessie and PL proven too.

They would actually require us spending decent money on them though…
What happens if neither want to come
What happens if the price is 100m
Bit simplistic to say just pay up

I find it hard to believe that we haven't made contact with the player before bidding.

Not sure what to think to be honest he clearly would move we wouldn't have agreed a fee if he wouldn't agent clearly wants his slice of the pie so may have to pay him to get him in now

But as has been stated many times, things constantly change, and we don't know exactly what was meant in any case. It may have been a pre-agreement for a contract in the summer. If so, and we then started pushing for a January transfer instead, it'd make sense for them to wait for the bigger fee later on. And obviously any player would want to see out a championship battle.

Edit: obviously all speculation, I have no idea what's going on.

Anyone that thinks you agree with the club then the player is being naive, if the player isn't interested you don't even bother talking to the club.

I agree everything can change, was just answering the question

Didn’t Herc say this deal was up to us and that if we wanted it it would happen previously?
He did. It’s entirely plausible that we know what it will take to make it happen now, and that’s the decision we are waiting to make.

Or it could just as easily be his agents playing silly buggers.

I'm sure I read somewhere that agents fees are due to reduce as FIFA bring in a new rule and January was the last chance for the real big pay days for them.
Not sure where I saw it

We have spoken to the player/his agents, to imagine we haven't is irrational. Now if he/his agent said no not interested and we then negotiated a deal with the club that would be a bit silly but it's much more likely is it not, that he/his agent didn't say no at all but made enthusiastic noises to see how it panned out. It's also possible they did that and are now saying no but I wouldn't put money on that either.
For the record I'm ambiguous about the guy, I'm in the not bothered but willing to accept I might be proved wrong.

I think we've always been negotiating for him on a free for next summer. When you sign a bosman the player and agent tend to get a high signing on fee in lieu of a transfer fee.

If you want the player early you then have to pay a fee to their club but the issue is that the player/agent still wants that same fee.

Agree, doesn’t smell right, we allegedly offered the 8m he was after too

I don't get why we wouldn't just offer him now what we'd offer him in the Summer... if this report is true at all.

If he had 3 years on his deal he'd cost 50mil. Even at 15mil, plus a 10 mil sign on fee its a great deal.

I think that’s how it may pan out

Bit of a technical question for if anyone knows:

If we did loan/buy Kessie, would he get a Serie A winners medal if Milan went on to win it, given he's played 16 times already?

He would be stupid to come now.

Anyone would wait until the summer snd see what's on offer when they get all yhe money.

Unless we offer him crazy money which we shouldn't and wouldn't do.
