Formula 1 and Tottenham Hotspur agree partnership that will include new indoor karting track below stadium

Been said before but more events like this and every event being promoted as at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium...
Do we even need a naming rights deal anymore? Surely promoting our brand would take president over the cash injection.

Also the more sky walks, stadium tours, go Karting experience etc... We could turn into Disneyland at this rate.

Why not put circus events on (to add to the current bimonthly Saturday/Sunday afternoon show).

I always imagined a stadium as a drain on resources (if you're not a football club), but we really are squeezing every penny we can get out of it.

With all the property we own around Tottenham there is more potential still. Maybe even a hub for all sports.

Man City have done similar, they have the council owned velodrome and the council are building another special events stadium (next to the Ethiad) to add to all the other bits and pieces city have built. The area has been completely redeveloped. They even wanted a casino there.

I feel that with the money in football these days football clubs have a responsibility (and self interest) to regenerate the surrounding area. We are certainly on our way to doing that.

On a serious note, Levy really is a one of a kind businessman when it comes to maximizing value out of a space. And while I wish that that genius equally applied to all things football, he has created a stable financial and commercial base that could be leveraged in the future. The F1 /diversity piece besides being decent makes cross branding and cooperation with other commercial entities even that much more attractive.

Forget the cheese room, what is never mentioned on the original plans level one south east corner, plan still available on Haringey planning website is the Barber Shop, could have had the Tottenham Sweeney Todd another attraction, not much use to Levy probably why it was dropped.

Will be interesting to see how the logistics work of moving the track when the pitch needs to be stored under the South Stand and how Spectators will be accommodated.

I remember not too long ago that there was discussion about them visiting the removable pitch technology. Wonder if this has anything to do with it.

Also read today that the Skywalk is the highest rated outdoor activity in London on Tripadvisor, which is quite impressive.

I doubt this will be a huge moneyspinner, but we've got a huge concrete space which is doing nothing in-season and you can't do much with a space like that. I'm guessing it'll be mostly temporary overlay which is easily stored somewhere else when we need to roll the pitch in.

So, it's huge a marketing coup more than anything. F1 is big atm and we're tying ourselves to it for 15 years. Nice.

And given F1 and Hamilton's push to get kids whose parents don't have pots of money onto the motorsport ladder, it's a feel-good venture as well.

Win-win.

As it is due to open in Autumn this year it looks as though the setting up is going to be very quick, the pitch will be stored until approx 8th August so set up of track can't begin until after that, following info on sky walk booking. The trays are stored without grass as pitch is renewed each season.

Please note: Bookings made from 21 May - 8 August will not have the football pitch visible due to events taking place at the Stadium.

I've always thought given the massive popularity of the Sport (F1) there has never been many places for kids and young people to go and practice, a proper kart training linked to F1 is potentially massive. When I was a kid, the kart courses were a bit dodgy to say the least (and attracted dickheads).

The more inventive ideas to bring people to the stadium is fantastic. Surely the idea will be to have it open 7 days a week and have it function as it's own tourist attraction. The knock on affects for merchandising and branding alone is potentially massive. Just think, you want to go for a concert, why not try the Skywalk or Karting while your there? Going for the karting why not go for a stadium tour. Build it and they will come!

Such pity that we couldn't play Wrexham in the cup, the potential to advertise our stadium and what it offers to the Americans would have increased the exposure even more.

We are creating the perfect mix of Sport and tourism. This is pioneering, cannot think of a place like this in the world. Before we have seen football clubs have stadium tours or host the odd concert or two but this is next level stuff.
