How is he still at the job? I guess it is because Levy already has paid out his wages for the week #Levylogic
The sixth choice?
Example?Exactly the same way Poch did - freeze them out until they can be sold on.
I just don't want him to get the Everton game and for us to miraculously pull out a win and the inevitable is further delayed.
Sorry, it was £17m. Widely reported in a few places, obviously could be paper talk, but google it.Where did you hear that?
I can’t imagine any manager turning down that amount of money.
Especially one who is currently unemployed.
Levy + learn lessons. You go to the first choice and do all you can to get them... noen of this penny pinching... learn lessons from a few months ago
And Italian DofCan we all agree no more Portugese managers please?!
The research needs to all be done and dusted. If we don't have a list of names where they have all be sounded out, ready to go, then we are truly fucked.Hope your contact happened to have to get off the phone as he was due to go on a trip to check out river plate
I'm more interested in what we can control ourselves. If you wanted a quick list of what I'd define as "doing things well" it would start at:What do you define as long term success, because clubs like Chelsea, city and eventually Newcastle will virtually put a stop to trophy collection.
He could be an alright talent spotter left to that, I won't argue that. He seems overpromoted though (given responsibility for all fotoball matters) given what I have seen so far and his track record at Juve. My main criticism is he doesn't fit the ethos we apparently want, maybe he will prove me/us wrong but he seems a product of his environment and prioritises pragmaticism first in his football and a classic Italian-style. Maybe he learns from this, we hope so, but he needs to broaden his horizons definitely.I mean the managerial search looks very poor on Paratici and the lack of cm cover and kane cover in BUT Emerson, Romero, Gil look to be good signings. Gollini is a steady number 2 worth the loan option.
Ideally Hitchen would pick coach and Paratici sorts transfer business. Levy stays well away.
Best news in last 3 monthsJust got off the phone to a good contact. Says it's just a matter of time now.
Let's hope there's more of a plan than last time.
I didn’t go yesterday as it was my son’s birthday (yes, I did say thank you to him) but I did have a chuckle to myself when at the very start of the game Gary Neville said, “You’d expect Spurs to fly out of the blocks today against a team lacking any confidence and playing a formation that they’ve only had three days’ training to prepare for.”Can't believe it hasn't happened already.
Playing against a side that had just been hammered
Zero shots on target - And we were at home ffs
N'dombele, one of our better players in recent weeks - dropped
Maguire and Shaw booked early and no instruction to push up and turn them both and buy a cheap foul.
Kane an embaressment, but kept on.
He is out of his depth
Next 5 league games.
Everton
Leeds
Burnley
Brentford
Norwich.
Prob enough possibilities there to keep Nuno in a job .
Fair assessment of how the club should be it seems that we are quite a way off that which is going to take a long time.I'm more interested in what we can control ourselves. If you wanted a quick list of what I'd define as "doing things well" it would start at:
- Clear style of play (each to their own, but I personally start with lots of the two P's - Possession and Pressing).
- That style of play to have aspects that are modern/cutting edge. Being ahead of the game and something others look up to take notice of (eg. appointing Poch made us one of the new wave of high pressing teams in the PL).
- Therefore good football I like to watch, find interesting, high quality, and keeps me engrossed for 90 mins. And hopefully wins matches.....
- Consistently appointing Coaches who reflect how we want to play/operate (Tactically, Transfer and Youth policy wise, Profile of player). No lurching from one thing to the next.
- As I said, leading departments in all aspects of the football club. Innovation, trying new things, taking risks, modern and driving standards, etc. And when teams start copying us, being flexible and long sighted enough to be able to shift and go again in another area to improve and evolve.
- Good transfers. Players who are brought with a clear plan as to how to use them, clearly have the attributes to fit in a Tottenham team, prove worth the investment, and the ratio is far more hit than miss.
- Evidence of the recruitment network (whether physical scouting, or from data/stats) at work. Finding the hidden gems, undervalued unheralded players, etc.
- A youth system that a) consistently produces players for Tottenham, b) are high quality in the aspects of play we hold dear and/or c) has clear development pathways available and d) makes money for the club.
And I could add more but I'll stop there.
Everyone sees things differently, but personally if I see the club ticking all those boxes, doing what it can, playing good football with a consistent approach and consistent decision making, bit of innovation and leading in certain aspects/areas, then I'm content. That's what I'd rather focus on, and for me would provide a pleasant atmosphere and environment to my supporting of Spurs day in day out, and is where I like to hold the club to task.
Maybe as you say that wouldn't be enough to win trophies or whatever against mega money clubs, but who knows. As I said, I think good process leads to good outcomes. But at the end of the day I'm not sitting there fretting about us winning trophies or hold that as the be all and end all to judge us on. I want us to win them, but there is so much more that makes up the 100's of hours each years of Spurs/your experience as a fan that needs to get you involved. Trophies are the icing on the cake.
