If they are right the PL is becoming the Super League everyone was so angry about a couple of years ago.
When Bournemouth is outbidding Juve and defending champions AC Milan for Zaniolo, I don’t know what else you could call it. The British laissez-faire island mindset with regards to investment is nowhere better personified than the PL. We let anyone and everyone with dosh come in and take over the place, and the big wigs at the FA get so filthy rich that it never occurs to them what’s happening.

Arsenal had a much better window than us
Two players who weren't even their first choice? I thought their identified targets were Mudryk and Caicedo, and they settled on Trossard and Jorginho. Can't really comment on the Polish CB as I've only seen him play once or twice, and even then I wasn't focusing on him.

Either I'm missing the joke or you've only said this because they're above us in the table.

It's amazing how people can say its been an underwhelming window for all the EPL teams, when you have a look at the charts in this article:

The EPL has basically blown all the other leagues out, outspending them multiple times over. The EPL clubs are hoovering up all the best talent on the continent and Spain, Italy, Germany, and France look like becoming feeders for what the La Liga president calls a doped league.

And people are saying its underwhelming and we should have spent more!

Also worrying is how EPL clubs have stopped buying from the lower English leagues, so the pyramid structure (and the England team) is struggling.

When Athletico Madrid(La Liga champions a couple seasons backl) are having to resort to signing our cast offs it shows the financial disparity between the leagues. Also goes a long way to explaining why us and other top 6 sides are struggling to sell our unwanted players abroad.

Depends on how we are defining "better".

Spurs will improve more than Arsenal - imo.

But, Arsenal really only needed to add depth to continue their title run.

In the end, I think both teams did what they set out to do at the outset of the window.

He wasn’t too concerned when they were spending millions/billions on poor players.
Perhaps if La Liga clubs took more care of their finances and scouting players they wouldn’t be so far away.

They were inflating the market back in 2017/18.

Italy did this in the 90s, Real Madrid, Barca and even Atletico recently have all been spending ridiculous amounts.

Yes the spending in EPL is crazy but its pure jealousy

You only need look at deals like Mbappe, Neymar, Coutinho, Dembele etc to see where it all kicked off. Grossly hypocritical to be pointing their finger at the EPL because they're not outspending everyone any more.

Sorry to change the subject but it has pissed me off that the Guardian use Porro as the header photo as opposed to one of the hundred players Chelsea have brought.

Were the most financially responsible club in Europe so no way can anyone throw that accusation at us

I think they had a good window . Considering the position they're in adding premier League experience is a good thing if it can push them over the line.

For us Porro is an excellent addition and Danjuma is ok albeit slightly unplanned.

My concern about our window is that we have pushed it down the road again and if we're looking at getting two centre backs, a goalkeeper, a forward and paying for Kulu etc then that's a huge huge outlay that history shows we can't /won't do

You could pretty much assume that the picture editor is an Arsenal or Chelsea fan.

It's their own fault. La Liga has been marketed so badly. They wasted their halcyon days of having ridiculous talent and now the product is garbage. For the last few years in England we haven't even been able to watch Spanish league football legally, and when we have it's been on obscure channels with awful commentary that almost renders it unlistenable.

Imagine if we missed out on two surefire improvements to the starting XI and brought in two decent bench players, the meltdown here would be incredible. Arsenal have failed when you look at what they were trying to do. #EduOut was trending on deadline day.

The Polish CB isn't someone who will be playing any time soon for them unless they have major injury problems.

You may think they have a good window, but don't be surprised if they fail to win the premier league, that their fans will think otherwise and start blaming the board for the failure in not paying the money needed to acquire Mudryk.

Maybe but adding premier League experience in their position isn't the worst idea.

Those responses pretty much encapsulate the ENIC approach and the reason we will not compete. They are content with European qualification and competing for (though not winning) honours. Reference to future FFP rules in 2025/26 shows the likely next set of excuses we will hear for not competing with those other teams that have new investment.

I really really dislike some of the stick that members of the THST board are getting on social media. It really, really, really vexes me. Some of the criticism they get is beyond idiotic.
