But it is all hypothetical.

Saying IF Liverpool and Chelsea were better we wouldn't be 4th is hypothetical. Fact is we have been better than them. Fact is they haven't got as many points as us. Fact is games in hand are not a guarantee of points. As seen by Liverpools defeat to Bournemouth yesterday. Last week they had their shit together this week they're back to being hugely inconsistent. It's not like it's our fault.

It is the same as 2019 where us and a couple of other teams were trying their best not to finish fourth towards the end of the campaign. Brighton got a draw away at the scum and we drew with Everton on the last day to get fourth. But before then our form had been very up and down.

Conte really should deliver it now with a game a week and the position we are in.

For the sake of comparison, we had exactly the same number of points after 27 games last season and were 5th place on level points with Arsenal in 4th. The season before that West Ham were in 4th with the exact same number of points after 27 games too.

Regardless of Chelsea, Liverpool, this is pretty much the exact position in the table you'd expect us to be given our points tally at this stage of the season.

Of course it’s relevant!

If Liverpool and Chelsea were having seasons comparable to their usual standard, you’d have an argument, but they’re not, they’ve been absolutely woeful this season!

So saying we’re only fourth because of their performance drop offs is a VERY fair argument!
If Liverpool were having a season comparable to their usual standard Arsenal would not be top of the league. Same for Man city.

These seasons seem to come around every now and then. Leicester winning it etc. Like I've said we might very well fall over the line but there won't be any warm feelings for me.

I don't believe Conte is suited to the EPL anymore with his tactics. It's moved on from his time at Chelsea.
Absolutely fair enough - it's all about opinions.

Great win and much better performance yesterday, doesn’t make up for the whimpering performances going out the cups but regardless of Conte’s future let’s just hope we can now have a positive end of the season, secure CL football again and sort out a good positive plan this summer.

But then you should really take into account arsenals massive improvement. If they weren’t playing way above their average of the past few years then we’d be in third, same could be said about united as well.

The point is ever year is different and right now we’re capitalising on chelsea and Liverpool dropping off. It’s not a stick to beat us with, more an acknowledgement that although we’re not having a great season, it’s nowhere near as bad as people are making out.

Some people are saying this.
I think, and I could be wrong as I haven't seen what you're alluding to, it's people saying we have been better than Chelsea and Liverpool this season, which based on points alone is fact, rather than us playing well.

Lol we even have more CL qualifications in the last 7 years than City have PL titles during the same timeperiod.

Not sure people thinks it’s a miracle when City win the league.

Where I struggle is when people say that we need to commit to him and back him in the summer, that we shouldn’t keep changing managers, that we should have more patience, and even use Arteta and Klopp as examples.

The problem with that perspective is that, from what I’ve read on here, we offered him a contract extension, and he hasn’t signed it. Additionally, he tends not to last more than a couple of years at clubs, therefore there’s no indication that he’s likely to stay at Spurs for a few seasons, in fact it seems likely he wants to return home in the summer. I certainly have sympathy with that position, given the year he’s had.

So, whilst I generally favour a patient approach, one where you trust and back a manager to deliver, I don’t think it’s possible in this instance, and I think we should part on good terms in the summer and identify a manager that does fit this profile.

I think we'll finish lower than those with a higher points total than us, but higher than those with a lower ppints total than us.

Disclaimer: Don't be hitting me up about goal difference.

I'm still grumpy about the FA Cup.
That's possibly my biggest piss off of this season.
Honestly couldn’t be arsed about CL, either the knockouts or qualifying, if we won a trophy.

Top 4 is great financially but we have been to the CL plenty, what Kane and the club needs is a trophy, we all realize it.

Obviously would like to perform better vs. Milan but there’s zero chance this team beats Madrid or Bayern in a final. Ironically, I would fancy our chances against City or Chelsea… which is why the FA Cup is such a big deal. No one left in that competition is unbeatable for us, and importantly Blackburn was in the next round.

Sheffield were there for the taking and some cowardly team selection killed us.

Until we get beat next week Trix - you know how fickle SC is.
I think they demanding, I think we've been patient I think we stood by the club whilst the stadium build happened...I think we were tolerant with all the manager missteps through the hire and firing processes... SC and spurs supporters in general understood we were trying to find the formula. We've been patient with Conte and have the right to support or want him out.....but no were definitelynot a fickle fan base...infact others out there describe the club the fans and owners as lacking ambition......but no...not fickle. can't agree with you there.

80% of the online fanbase is like this. Perpetual negativity from a fanbase ground down by the club.

It’s fine to be fed up with the manager but also be happy to win.

We live in a World of extremes.

However I don't like Conte and his way of playing the game, I also don't like his treatment of "Club signings"
He should remember he works for us and that his boy Perisic hasn't exactly pulled up many trees.

My issue with qualifying for the Champions League at this point is that it doesn't make following Spurs particularly more enjoyable. How we went about the Milan tie, felt more like we were just in the competition to make up the numbers. There's even a sense that we prioritise qualifying for next's year competition ahead of progressing in the competition itself. In a sense, that epitomises all that is wrong with this club and modern football in general.

Super controversial opinion I know but I think CL can be overrated. It’s great for the fans obviously but appointing a new manager will not give him much breathing room to implement a system before the big matches start piling up with CL.

I still think if we ever do have a chance of winning the league (which seems one in a million at this point) it’ll come when we don’t have European football at all.

The PL is far too competitive and our squad is far too thin to think that we can waltz into Barcelona or Milan on Tuesday then go spank Brighton at the weekend. It just is not going to happen, even City and prime Liverpool struggled with it.

If we can get a week to prepare for every match we actually can play with anyone.

no surprise Conte’s PL title came in a year he didn’t have to worry about CL.

So a player needs to complain to the press to get the start he deserve. And in doing so, Dejan was dropped while Son, who has done fuck all, retains his place.

Antonio Conte is becoming more of a clown everyday. He has lost interest in managing the club and needs to get the fuck out.
It worked though, Richarlison played well and got a good assist, Son scored. Why do people twist the things he does right to have a go? It's pathetic

With his record, Conte never has to worry about CL.
