Just another Footballer with limited to no intelligence spouting. Everton's signings this summer were good for a club in their position, but we were there 5-8 years ago. The players we sign now, our philosophy and the general statbdsrd of player in our squad means that he is miles off

He was presumably being interviewed for an Everton fans rag. In those circumstances I wouldn't expect him to say their team was a bunch of bang average old men with a couple of half decent kids. He probably craves a bit of attention after going from 'promising prospect' at Spurs to Billericay Town.

Rose is no longer a shoe in, Davies is challenging rapidly with his sweet left foot.

Its funny how Rose was saying how he was going to get what he was worth. He couldnt have meant a place on the bench but thats how it could easily be for most of the rest of the season. A great player but i could see Poch having a big problem with what he said.

The set up in this game very much reminded me of the Ajaz mid nineties Champions League winners. Yes, Trippier and Davies are in theory full backs, but their position was so high up on the pitch that really they were widemen in the old fashioned sense, while Vertonghen and Alderweireld spent as much time in traditional full back positions as they did in the middle, especially on the ball.

Van der Sar
Reiziger Blind F.De Boer
Rijkaard
Finidi Seedorf Davids Overmars
Litmanen
R.De Boer

Kane
Dele
Davies Sissoko Eriksen Trippier
Dier
Vertonghen Sanchez Alderweireld
Lloris
When it's Rose and Aurier instead of Davies in Trippier it will be even more reminiscent.

It just becomes spooky when you then look at our lineup and see 4 players who broke through at Ajax.

That's interesting because the phrase that popped into my head watching the game was "Total Football" - our defenders are great on the ball, our forwards defend from the front and we are so fluid in formation because we have so many versatile players

That was much more like it. In full control of the game and our players combined far better than the previous game. Control is the best part of performances like that - we could have and maybe on another day would have scored two or three [Pickford played well] but at no point did we ever look flustered.

Our passing was crisp, Davies was outstanding and Trippier was playing more confidently. Eriksen and Kane were superb and props to Sissoko who contributed well and caused them problems. I'd like to see these type of performances in the Champions League as I said on here last season, I feel our European performances over the years are too huff and puff. If we show as much care with the ball I reckon we'll do Dortmund.

I did debate internally long and hard whether it would be what's but having now researched further following your post and indeed found it is that, it doesn't really make sense in sense of English language as means what is in context of other words.

So in short the English written language is facking weird.

No ones saying he's turned into Pele mate.
I take it you'll be writing a post pinpointing every single time one of our players made a mistake or wrong decision? Or is it just Sissoko you're doing that for?

No. But if someone's going to make a smug post calling out people who questioned his selection they should probably save it for when he's had more than just a passable performance. Let's face it, if we'd drawn or lost that game this thread would be full of people lambasting Sissoko for missing the chances he did and for failing to make the most of opportunities to set up others.

Yep, completely ignoring any positive contributions and just picking up on the negative...he was decent, you've said it yourself, the final result should not affect that opinion.
Pretty funny reading the 'experts' opinions in here before kickoff....get the impression some were actually pissed off that he played well, quite sad really.

Lighten up, it's a bit of fun, don't get upset cause you can't take a bit of ribbing ;)

You asked a question why Sissoko was picked, the question was answered during the match, despite him messing up a load of chances he opened up spaces on the pitch for Eriksen which IMO we would have not seen if Dembele or Winks was on the pitch.

The Dutch, with Ajax and Cryuff at the forefront were the "Total Football" pioneers. So it is no surprise we are doing that with our contingent of ex-Ajax stars.

Surprised Sissoko is getting so much praise. Okay, he put himself about but when he came to the basics - controlling the ball, passing, shooting, staying on side - he struggled more often than not. I literally found myself shaking my head and laughing at how poor he was on numerous occasions.

Well thats ('that's' if ComfortablyNumb is still marking) your opinion. In mine, he was a massive improvement on previous performances.
