Once again he had a nothing game. He is a Match of the Day player and overrated IMO
Richarlson is playing the way we need our striker to play. In the face of the last defender and pulling them this way and that way to allow space for the attacker, he was bullying Davies, Romero, Dier the whole game. Their chances were due to this.

Kane is so bloody static...that has always been our problem

True but you can't judge every team based on a game or two, or a bad 10 minutes. Form ebbs and flows and performances fluctuate. Weird things happen in football and the 5 Watford goals were a freak occurrence, a bit like Villa beating Liverpool 7-1 or us beating United 6-1 last season: they don't really mean that much in the grand scheme of things.

Everton obviously aren't a great team, but they were well up for it today and the crowd were absolutely pumping. Benitez must know that he was under a bit of pressure after some losses and had them really fighting for every ball and giving it everything.

We were also trying a completely new system and passing it out from the back for the second game in about 2 years. We have to accept that while we try to adjust to a new style of play there will inevitably be teething problems. We don't have a pre-season to practice Conte's passing patterns so for these next few games we're essentially trying to live in the house while we build it. As a result we have to accept that we're going to make a lot of mistakes while our players get used to it. Oh, and the entire 11 played a match 3 days ago and were a man down for half an hour, which inevitably had a big impact on their fitness and freshness.

Sure, in the long run we'd fully expect to beat this Everton team, but we need to be patient and not expect everything at once. These things take time.
Particularly like the term "live in the house while we build it." Not heard that before but sums up the situation perfectly.

Only now catching the highlights. Everyone mentioning the Reguillon miss but overlooking the Emerson miss which was way worse. He had a clear, completely free header from 6 yards out yet got it so badly wrong that it came off his thigh and over the bar. That should have been buried without a shadow of doubt.

It hasn't been overlooked bud, you must've just not seen the posts.

There was a discussion between a few of us this morning, moaning about the lack of replays (we only saw 1) and one guy says the header actually came off the defender who jumped with him?

I did say it looked like he mistimed it & it maybe came off his shoulder.

I agree it was a chance that should. But there's at least 4 of us who all seemingly saw something different.

I expected a corner as for me I saw a touch of the Everton defender

He definitely got his head on it and headed it down, but it hit the defenders arm/shoulder it wasn't a poor effort at all probably goes in if the defenders not there.

I almost felt insane when it happened and no one commented on it. I don't get why VAR didn't review it and I don't get why our players didn't put any pressure on the referee. The same thing goes for the stomp on Son.

Look at Everton in the second half, the whole team screamed for penalties every time they got near the penalty area, wheras we don't even seem to care when we're being robbed of an obvious (to me) penalty and the ref missing a kick to the stomach on one of our players. I feel like we act like this so often and I don't understand it.

I dont think it was a penalty his arm wasn't above his head but it was a corner and a decent header. I have no idea how a previous poster thought it hit his thigh.

I expect it has already been mentioned, but the last manager to lead us to the title started his league campaign against Everton - just saying!
