Single tier South stand... seen that somewhere before ?

Goodison is a ground I'd like to get to before it closes but doesn't look likely.

Add this to the other waterfront parts on the Liverpool dock and it'll be quite a place to visit

Location is great but I will miss the novelty of their proximity to Anfield. Such a foreign concept for those of us here in North America.

Dundee Stadiums. Weirdly close!!

Dundee Utd are technically my Scottish team, through my Dad when I was but a young child, although I was already a Spurs fan by the end of summer of 1990 at the age of 8 years old !

It really is mental how close the stadiums are. The photo doesn’t do Tannadice justice though, as it is very much the better stadium. Dens Park is a curiously odd and extremely decayed football venue. The main stand is also a very bizarre slight V shape.

If they've stuck to the original plans the stadium will have an upscale bar/restaurant with glass panels on one side. On the other side of the glass you'll see the teams walking out on to the pitch. Can't think of anywhere else where that occurs.

Drones have really changed architecture and the whole building industry, as well as media presentations.

Look how few crane-lifts and platforms there are on site, there's just no need to be getting up high to see the situation now you can just send up a drone. I love it, seeing the overheads of work going on, all for the price of a half decent drone, few hundred quid.

Noice.

My assumption was a religious divide for there being 2 teams, but apparently not - at least according to this article:

Shame to lose Goodison one of the great grounds for atmosphere the last Archibald Leitch ground in England only Ibrox will remain - the place could bounce remember us losing in the Cup up there in the 80's that was some atmosphere the place was literally bouncing

It all looks a bit bland and small. Liverpool has also been stripped of UNESCO world heritage status because of all the development around the old docks. I understand Liverpool isn’t London and the finances are different. In any case, sticking up a fairly meh stadium, around other boring developments has devalued the whole city overall.

In England, examples of Archibald Leitch architecture may still be found at Fulham, Sheffield Wednesday, Crystal Palace and Portsmouth. Further examples may be found at Dundee, Aberdeen and as you say the magnificent main stand at Ibrox.

This cracking little book is well worth a read for anyone interested in early football stadia architecture.

I will have to have a look at the book thanks - I assumed that Goodison was one of the last but a quick google and he has footprint over so many of the old grounds

Surely North America, its anything but a foreign concept. Many cities have their "Football, Baseball and Basketball arenas/Stadiums on the same site/parking lot...appreciate they are teams the city all loves. As opposed to 2 hated rivals spitting distance from each other

That’s the point. You’d never have this, they’d share one stadium in a sea of concrete parking.
