He might physically have “given his all” and put 100% commitment in and put his body on the line (performance against Barcelona the other night aside), but I think “giving your all” means more than that.

Specifically, too often he has gone missing in games and abdicated any form of leadership responsibility. He hasn’t organised the back line and, contrary to the instructions from the sideline, been responsible for the line dropping deeper and deeper and inviting more pressure.

the lack of pace, mobility and not making himself available for more progressive patterns of play is something else and the obvious reason why he is not right for Ange.

He did a post with his dog staring at him and captioned it look at me i'm the captain now. Wouldn't surprise me if he received a lot of abuse from fans who want him nowhere near the team let alone to be captain. I get their opinion but I hope that isn't the case. We all know it will be though.

He’s a great guy, but let’s be honest he has regressed and I blame some of our past managers for picking him as the main defender which showed him up for being awful in that position. For me he played his best in midfield as a holding player.
Even then he made some mistakes, but they were swept up by Toby and Jan. Let’s not forget that he wanted to go to Jose at UTD when his stock was high.
It’s a shame as his imposing physique was a great attribute for the peak Poch team, but that’s now turned into his worst quality as he needs 5 minutes to change direction.

I’ve always had time for Eric, but ever since the doc where Dele was not happy in the teams performance and Dier took it personally - something didn’t sit right. He’s a loyal servant for sure but his best isn’t the level we need any more

IF this is because he’s been snubbed for the captaincy and he’s throwing a tantrum, then his reaction to the news just shows why he isn’t fit to be the captain.

Let’s be generous towards a player who was part of our best team in recent memory.

I was at Upton Park for his debut when he scored a spectacular last minute winning goal making what had been a really bad day and grim game joyful.

Later under Poch he had a run where he wasn’t the best defensive midfield player and he wasn’t the best centre back but he was really good at dropping back into the back line and so enabling Walker, Rose and Dembeke get forward.

Yes he’s not good enough for the team we aspire to build and it’s time for home to leave but he’s done a lot for the club that should be honoured.

I wish I could fire that documentary and all the memories with it into the goddamn sun.

That was a Twitter re-hash of a post from March to get a reaction post Kane - don’t read anything into it.

There’s part of our so called fanbase that are rotten to the core. The abuse to some of our players is so uncalled for, especially on social media which in all fairness is the root of the problem.

This is the thing that is most likely reason as to why I will give up my season ticket. The negative, aggressive, and frankly shameful abuse toward people is a real drain.

Its fine to not like Dier, Levy, etc...

However, to hate and abuse? They are just people doing a job. No one really knows them.

Dier has been a brilliant servant. At his best he’s a very good PL CB and was better than that in the past too. I find the fans treatment of him on all socials disgusting tbh. I don’t think he’s good enough to start at present but I recognise he’s put his absolute everything into spurs since his debut.

The time he said “I hear people say stuff about Tottenham and I don’t like it.” The time he climbed into the stands to stand up for his brother. The time he ruined West Ham fans’ weekend by scoring on his debut. The time he shitwhipped half the Chelsea team in their own backyard. The many times him and Dele made me laugh with their absurd banter.

Maybe he is a good player requiring better coaching, maybe he‘s lost a little something over the years, maybe he’s simply not the right fit for Ange. I don’t know. But I do know there are many reasons why I love Eric Dier. And it’s not just because he loves me.

I genuinely don’t get the Diet hate! Do I think he is good enough, absolutely not, but he doesn’t pick himself that has been down to the managers! It looks like that is finally going to change under Ange.

Do I think he gives his all, yes I do, do I think it’s time for him to go, yes I do, do I think the hate is over the top 💯%

Thanks for everything but I do prefer he moves on. 1 year left and not suited to the system, just hope we can get 5-10 mil for him.
Moving him on and a few others would be a huge step then it’s a basically a completely fresh team new manager.

Endless vile comments on his page. Why are the vast majority of football fans such mindless ****s?
I just don’t get the hate from keyboard warriors. Life is far TOO short.
We can agree that Dier does not warrant a place in the team however what is the matter with these morons ?

I think people use football as a release, but in the same sense they use it to release whatever is wrong in their life.

In parallel, there is a big mental health crisis bubbling up in the background. Due to a lack of focus and funding, and the impacts of lockdowns and covid.

I also think social media is fueling a lot of it.

Welcome to the social media impressions generation. A whole bunch of 17 year olds whose formative years were spent playing minecraft on their ipads leading directly into a 2 year long pandemic. They never learned how to interact like a normal person.
