Somehow loyalty from fans has shifted to only be based on ability - which isn’t loyalty at all.

(edit - apologies for misunderstanding. Disagree removed)

Not at all. It’s about their attitude.

Emerson is (certainly was) poor but he gave his all. Same with Sanchez recently.

Dier constantly berates his team mates while it’s him that’s out of position. I’ve really grown to dislike him and it’s nothing to do with how good/bad he is.

Does any ITK know what this is about?

Dier is a great lad, and a leader, but doesn’t fit into ange system. He will be good for a mid table club that plays with a low block. That’s not us anymore.

He was at a mid table club with a low block last season and it wasn’t stunning tbf

And you don’t think that Dier hasn’t given his all (even if you dont think his ‘all’ equates to what you think it needs to be) for the last 9 years?

I think that’s a bit disingenuous.

because all I have seen is a player that has given us all and is committed to the Club. Even if he has fallen short ability wise sometimes.

Maybe a mid table team in Bavaria would be a good move for him.

I'm going to disagree with that. Under conte, and Mourinho he was the CB who did a lot of the talking. Even the foreign non English speakers speak highly about how he helped them.

Recent form not withstanding, I love Eric Dier. I think so many fans are way over the top in how they decide to criticize players, and so much of if it is really just unnecessary and borderline cruel. You may not think he’s good enough for what we should aspire to be (I don’t disagree), but he’s been nothing short of a model professional and he had that drive and edge that made the Pochettino team such a joy to watch, and I’ll look back on him as a player with fondness. He’s a down to earth guy in a sport rife with entitlement and characters I’d have no interest in ever getting to know. If this is the end of his time here I wish him nothing but the best.

I think people need to get used to this sort of thing. Poch talked about painful rebuild needed and a number of the old guard will be gone in the next twelve months. Everyone in the club loved Kane and can now see the writing on the wall. I can see Son leaving next summer as well.

He did a lot of the shouting but it was more blaming others. Happy if others have a different opinion of him but mine ain’t changing.

Wonder if there is a correlation to Ange saying yesterday that there was a process to be followed today regarding appointment of the new captain.

It might have gone further, announcement of the squad for tomorrow and maybe even chats with players who aren’t going to be in his plans going forward.

If it turns out that VDV is starting or even Davies, ahead of Dier then he will know he’s simply not wanted and don’t blame him for being pissed off.

Or he just didn’t want the club’s Harry content filling his timelines as it makes him sad.

He was the organiser of the backline, so he had to do a lot of shouting and pointing. Another who played with passion.

Problem is that his form fell off a cliff and made mistakes galore last season, but his ability to relate to the different defenders in their own native language was very helpful.

Yeah definitely agree about Son . If he has a season like last , then I wouldn’t be surprised if he decides it’s time to go and maybe the club also .

with Kane gone there is even more pressure on Sonny to perform better

Not sure what teams in the Premier League he would be happy to move to but actually play... maybe Fulham?

His next move will probably be abroad.

Sorry, I wasn’t clear, but I don’t think it’s right at all and that was my point. As someone said above, loyalty works both ways. It speaks to how the fan base is right now that people are treating it as a cause for optimism.
Ask him to sign a new contract on the money he deserves to earn as 5th/6th choice CB, who is hardly ever going to play and lets see how loyal he is.

With his contract expiring next summer I’m surprised more hasn’t been said about him leaving in the press. Surely he’d either sign a new deal or we’d sell this summer as he’s someone we could probably actually get a fee for.
Actually no. If he counted as HG then yes. We probably would’ve sold him already if that was the case.

I think for his own sake he needs to leave, he must know the opinion of him within the general fanbase is toxic and negative as it is

There’s part of our so called fanbase that are rotten to the core. The abuse to some of our players is so uncalled for, especially on social media which in all fairness is the root of the problem.
I think every club has this element. We only know of ours due to social media, forums and going to matches. We know of the Goons cause they monetised it with AFTV.

Yeah, he actually looked good till he got that England call back, then, form dropped off cliff. I don't have a problem with him as a player. Just as a first choice CB. leave now and play at his level. Stay as backup. Both fine with me. Don't get the hate for the man. He's just not quite good enough. Not for a lack of trying, but from having hit his ceiling as a player. Feel a lot of the hate should be better directed at refusal to recognise that we needed to upgrade vs being diers fault.

Nice guy but definitely needs to move on for his own sake. Think he could do a job for Fulham if they sell Tosin, but he’s simply not good enough for us and certainly not playing in a back 4 pushing up and playing a high line.

I wish him well if he’s off
