I think it all depends on things that we'll never be privy to.
Like, would the club pay off his wages, or let him leave for a free if he gives them up? Maybe pay him half of what he's due?
I doubt we're looking for a fee for him really, with his contract as it is.

I do think though, at his age, playing is the most important thing for his career right now and I would've thought that would be what Dier would wants.
I'm not against him staying for another 6 months and seeing out his contract but I don't think that's the sensible thing for him to do career wise.

Whatever happens though, I'm not going to slag him off because he's been a fucking good servant for the club.
It would seem a bit daft and a little greedy though.
Suppose I just don't see the angle where he's greedy however I spin it. It just doesn't seem greedy at all to see out a contract for payment that you signed, and in any other walk of life I don't think it would either. And not sure why we'd offer or he would accept us paying him half of what we owe him to go now. He can make any calculated risk he wants to, and is probably privately insured against any career threatening injury. Pay the man, imo!

Think he needs to leave this league. It just doesn't suit him to play at this tempo anymore. I see a similar sort of move abroad that Hugo made.

Think he should go back to Lisbon if they're interested. Deserves to finish his career on a happy note and get away from the toxicity of here.

Didn’t he mention somewhere about returning to Portugal?

Although I think he probably could still do a job for a team in this league which doesn’t play such a high line. He’s badly exposed in this system in this league.

Too sent for me, shouid of gone ages ago. He is on good money. Club should release him from his 6 months. Ofcourse Ange is going to go with him being around. He is taking up a valuable space on the bench.
Tbf we can criticise Dier all we want for picking up a paycheck and not playing (I did towards the end of last summer) but Ange is the one who's clearly favouring him over the youngsters. As it stands he's obviously next in line behind Royal at RCB so it's not as if he's been completely frozen out.

I know some will think I have an agenda with him, and I probably do. He is spent and finished here! No matter what Ange is doing. He is not good enough. Typical of our club for holding into some players too long.

He is not good enough going forward, I think we can all agree, but he is better than the youth for the now in the eyes of Ange. Should we not just support him (Ange) until the end of the season?

Personally, I will just support whatever he is doing, as we're moving in the right direction under that thus far, and sitting measly few points off top I am as far away from throwing the baby out with the bathwater as I could possibly be in terms of the expectations for this year. It seems a tough time to be looking to try and beat the club up when there is a lot to enjoy and look forward to.

You need to throw your Eric Dier dog tags over the side and just let it go

Herc give it a rest. The club offered him a contract which he has every right to see out. He hasn't moaned and complained publicly, despite the abuse he constantly gets from his own club's fans. When asked and called upon (which is Ange's choice by the way) he isn't going "nah you're good I'll sit this out". Like Hojbjerg he still does his job professionally whether people like it or not.

The reaction he gets is pretty embarrassing to see. He has been here for an age and has always spoke highly of the club. Think he deserves a tad more respect from you and others.

Swear people love to hate on our own players more than opposition players these days. The guy went through a fucking illness as well as injuries and fought his way back for us and to play for England again.

He may not suit what we need now and yes it's time to leave, but I think he deserves a better send off from "fans". You know the same ones who threatened his brother once upon a time.

To be fair (thankfully) he doesnt get hate at the stadium beyond the usual clowns scattered around all of whom have their favourite player to moan about. Nothing like what Emerson and Davinson got when the crowd was at their worst for them.

Clubs at fault for getting to this point with the managers and transfers (lack of replacements) extending his stay so i dont begrudge dier seeing this out as he so chooses and good luck to him, hes nearly 30 so his next contract is likely the last he has a chance at starting at a decent level on a decent wedge (footballer scale obviously) and hopefully he picks well.

Plenty of fans sang his name when he came on vs Bournemouth

He's not a great fit for Ange and isn't at the level of a few years ago, but he's been a great club servant and a very good player at his peak. He should move on now or in the summer with his head held high and with the thanks and respect of all spurs fans

I’d say we look defensively more solid than UTD
I’d say they’ve conceded less goals than us and the same as Villa this season which is a fact. I’m not saying their defence is better then ours but it also isn’t their problem - only Burnley and Sheffield United have scored less

Slightly better than ours since you ask. Dier will do really well for a team who defend in a low block and don’t arse around at the back: I’m hoping West Ham don’t sign him
Couldn’t disagree with that. Everton would be a great fit for him imo
