Would hate to see him in a Spammers shirt.
Man, I'd just be happy for him to get a move he's happy with and some regular game time.
He's not right for us anymore so we need him off the books, so pretty much anywhere will do for me.
It's not like we'd be giving them one of our best players, or an bright youngster.

He wouldn't go to Arse or Chelsea and we don't have a rivalry with the caravan dwellers apart from in their own minds.

Dier wants to wait until the summer. Just pay him off. Will we?
I think we should if a decent option becomes available to him.
He's been a good servant for the club, so it's the least we can do to help him not waste another 6 months of his career.
He'll likely find less clubs wanting him after another 6 months of no playing time.

Yeah, but it’s West Ham. He can do better than that!

Come on Herc. He’s played 365 games for the club (including being a regular in 4 CL qualifying teams) and never given less than his best. He’s earned the right to do what he wants, and if Ange thinks he’s worth a place on the bench then fair enough. If he’s not also fair enough
Too sent for me, shouid of gone ages ago. He is on good money. Club should release him from his 6 months. Ofcourse Ange is going to go with him being around. He is taking up a valuable space on the bench.

That's not his fault though, is it? We all wanna move on, but it's not like we'll get a fourth CB in this window if Dier goes now. Out team looks good if Dragonsteaks comes in. So it's all the same if we let him go now or in the summer really.

I'm not sure he can, to be brutally honest.
But another 6 months of no playing time is hardly going to expand his options, so I don't really understand why he wouldn't be open to a move this month if we can come to some sort of arrangement.

If we chose to let him go for free but forgo his last 6 months of wages, he'd still get a signing on fee and would actually be playing too.
If he chooses to stay in that situation, I may start to feel that he's taking the piss a bit but then, we gave him the contract and as someone else just said, he's hardly Ndombele.

exactly

if he gets injured he could be without a career

if he can leave on a free surely he would have to take?

I don't put "I will see out my contract that we both agreed to" down as being difficult.
I agree with that but then there were rumours in the summer that he turned a couple of moves down, even though he'd been told he wasn't in the managers plans.
If he turns down moves this window too, that does start to smell a bit of maybe being stubborn and greedy.

Personally I fucking hate the idea of us being the type of club to try and hound good servants out. We offered him the contract, and I hope he gets every penny if he wants it. If that means we give it him 6 months early so that we can bring someone else in, then great. If we're not bringing someone else in, then I'd rather we keep him, and by all accounts so would Ange as he's the one that keeps putting him in the matchday squad.

The idea that him not foregoing what's owed and that being somehow entitled is a little bit mad if I'm honest and reading what people are feeling correctly.

I think it all depends on things that we'll never be privy to.
Like, would the club pay off his wages, or let him leave for a free if he gives them up? Maybe pay him half of what he's due?
I doubt we're looking for a fee for him really, with his contract as it is.

I do think though, at his age, playing is the most important thing for his career right now and I would've thought that would be what Dier would wants.
I'm not against him staying for another 6 months and seeing out his contract but I don't think that's the sensible thing for him to do career wise.

Whatever happens though, I'm not going to slag him off because he's been a fucking good servant for the club.
It would seem a bit daft and a little greedy though.

Maybe. But in my mind he has earned that right - by signing the contract.

Its his job to look after his best interests, and if he is not downing tools, and is putting in the effort in training Spurs can pay him off, or see his contract through to the end. He should not be forced to accept deals that don't suit him.

Although on this point, I think the only reason he's been in the match day squad is because we've had no-one else available. He wasn't there when everyone was fit and it has been said that he was told he wasn't in the managers plans last summer.

With a new CB coming in this window, would be great if we could off load Dier. Not too sure he'd go to West Ham purely because he'd be behind Zouma and Aguerd. When it comes to clubs in the league, not too convinced there are that many teams in the league he can go to and be guaranteed a starting place. Likes of West Ham, Palace, Everton all have better CB's. Maybe a Fulham or Brentford?

Oh god no and I hope we'd not even try to do that because he deserves much better treatment from the club.
I think the ideal world would be to find him a decent move and just pay off his wages, maybe do a deal for half of them or something if need be.

I just think another 6 months of not playing will do him more harm than good and if we do make a couple of signings this month, with everybody else coming back, he's not going to get a sniff of the bench.

The spite and hatred that a player who's never given less than his best receives is fucking despicable. It isn't "setting a standard" or "being ruthless", it's just being cruel, and I hope Eric gets a fanbase that can treat him with more decency than he's received from ours in recent years.

I dont think it will happen to be honest.

There was a ton of noise at one point in the summer about us ‘ripping up contracts’ to get things done.

We didn’t cancel any.
