Bayern now signing Bella-Kotchap after his move to Dortmund collapsed this morning. Wonder if Dortmund re-ignite their interest in Eric now?

I'm a little disappointed with Dier, he's clearly not part of the plans. Feels like his looking to get his contract paid off and pocket a signing fee from a new club. I might be inclined to release him after the window closes, let him sit around until January.

He’ll be a free agent if we pay his contract up, and won’t need a transfer window to sign for a new club.

I appreciate the upside for him of becoming a free agent next summer.

But if he stays and does not play for a year, he will struggle to find a lucrative move next summer IMO.

You would think a loan till then end of the season then be a free agent would be the best thing to do in his position. Strange

If he's not registered, and I don't believe he will be, I wouldn't be surprised if he's paid off and leaves by mutual agreement. He could then join Bayern as a free agent now they've failed to get Chalobah done in time.

Then I assume we could still buy our CB now regardless if Dier isn’t registered.

hope this stops the 'good servant' 'cares about the club narrative', he is just another average player who sees us as an easy pay day and wont get a move to any ambitious club, if he really cared he would of left straight away knowing his not in Ange plans, fleecing 85k a week doing nothing, and taking up a players spot, instead wasting a year of his career, horrible mentality

Yeah, people really have an issue with equating length of tenure with loyalty. Loyalty assumes he could have left for better clubs but besides some brief interest from United back in the day that’s clearly never been the case. He’s been here so long because he knows whatever his next step is, is a step down either in his role or the quality of the club.

well put, and even with that United talk he didn't conduct himself well, the infamous kyle walker social media clip where he said 'you wanted to go to united', his purely here because it is the best he can hope for, loyalty my arse

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I find it highly unprofessional that players who have been told they’re not going to make the 25 man squad refuse to leave. Dier has been a great servant for the Club, and has had periods of playing well, but it’s time to part ways and say goodbye. He needs to move out of his comfort zone for the sake of his own career - taking a years break before a free transfer won’t attract him the huge offers he’s been advised it will next summer. Most chairman, if they had any sense and done their DD, would run a mile from a player with an attitude like that - especially at the wages that come with free transfers.
Would you take a pay cut or have your employer decide where your next job is? I’m not happy that he’s still here but I think the onus is on the club here. Pay him off and move on.

You're treating it like he works at Tesco and we'll telling him he has to work a pound land

Don’t remember either of them playing 360 games for spurs including 30+ league starts for 4 teams that made the CL. Might be wrong though and he’s as useless as you think

He couldn't though, move as a free agent for Bayern would be only possible if he was free agent before 5pm when transfer window for German clubs was closed
