One, of many, who have been here too long and no longer offer any signs of improvement or progresion. Should be other clubs willing to give us good money for him so we must now be looking to get rid and replace asap.

Ah good old Lurch.....first game back after a month sunning himself and like clockwork a dreadful piece of play under no pressure leads to a goal. He is a huge reason why we look a mess at the back. He isn't dominant nor dependable, has a mistake in him and unsettles those around him. No amount of arm waving is going to convince me he is a leader of that defence. Ask fans of the other top 5 clubs if they'd have him in their defence and they would probably laugh in your face. He would have a job on his hands getting into the Newcastle, West Ham or Palace teams imo.

Have no idea if we have any chance of replacing him this January with a quality player but if we could go into the second half of the season with a new quality dominant CCB, Romero at RCB and Lenglet at LCB, I think it would massively improve us. Lenglet is not a dominant , all out defender imo but someone who can compliment that kind of player in a 3 but has enough about him to get us till the end of the season when we may look at a upgrade once his loan ends.

Its tragic but the second he attempted that clearance and spooned it out for a corner, i knew we would concede from it. Immediately just knew

We need to go all out for an elite CCB in January.

Romero - Someone like Skriniar - Lenglet and it is a completely transformed backline IMHO.

Direct errors are one thing but I find the passive defending worse. Backs away and gives players 3-5 yards to pick out whatever pass they want or get a shot away. He seems more worried about not looking bad than actually helping us to defend a situation.

It’s incredible how badly his form cratered from the moment he received the England call up.

There’s a debate to be had as to whether he should stay as a squad player, but I don’t think there’s any question we need an upgrade in the starting XI.

You’d think Dier had dropped an absolute stinker, not shanked a single clearance to give away a corner. Just like Tanganga getting the blame for the first goal after losing a header. These things happen every game, to every player!

The real problem is that the team can’t effectively defend space in the box or track runners - and that’s not down to any one player.

He is going to be 29 in a few months and has nearly a decade of EPL experience under his belt. Some of his bits of play and mistakes are as though he is still young and learning the game/league. Simply cannot build teams around defenders who are prone to so many errors. When I see his name on the team sheet, almost know they'll be a cock up that will or nearly lead to a goal. Having worked with him for over a year now, wonder what Conte honestly feels about having someone like him as the mainstay in his defence..

We have such a horrible habit of hanging onto players who are clearly not good enough but who somehow end up carving long careers at us. He seems a nice enough guy but that isn't much good to us on the pitch.

people are fed up, 10 years of him, a painstakingly average player with little improvement

I’d say Diers more at fault for the first goal. He stood off again and gave their player time to wait for support then the space and the angle to play any ball he wanted. If you’re going to give PL players that kind of time and space you’ll find it hard to pick up men. He does it multiple times in games. The shanked clearance is not why I don’t want him in the team.

I can understand a miskick like that. It happens. However what I find hard to accept is why he did it. He had time to control it and wasn't under any pressure
