Good game last night. Still gets the blame when others are at fault. The blind hatred from some is getting tiresome.
The sad truth is it doesn’t matter how good he plays, he just always has a mistake in him that could cost us goals/points.

I think Dier could do well in a 3atb formation, with 2 pacey players either side of him it could work well.

Yeah sure he has a mistake in him but to begin with, I think we need to get anothe CB in to go with him and Romero, then maybe next summer look at adding 1 more to give Dier some competition.

I think he really tries his hardest but I also think he's just simply not good enough for if we want our defence to be seamless. I find that the things he falls short in and always seems to repeat aren't the easiest things to train. Certain mistakes are fine but the ones Dier makes seem to be in the worst positions that can lead directly to goals.

I do actually like him, I like how he has a calm head, think he can go longer periods now without making any sort of error and would be happy to keep him as a squad player but I really have reservations about him being cemented into our defence.

What player doesn’t have a mistake in him? Dier doesn’t hide from anything and throws himself at anything and everything. He tries to defend even when his colleagues have let him down. Of course the ball hits him and there’s an occasional own goal or a penalty given. Even when he makes a dodgy tackle in the box VAR is needed usually to decide if it was a foul or not. Haters keep on hating like the Manchester United ‘fans’ hating on Maguire now he’s having a bad spell in a poorly coached team.

You seriously aren’t comparing Romero to Dier? Romero is levels ahead.
I am comparing the errors made this season by those players. My view of Romero is that he is already a class act and could well become an absolute world beater. That does not mean that I'm prepared to pretend that he has not made too many errors which have led to chances on goal so far this season. Dier has made some errors too but fewer than Romero and fewer than last season, when he, like a lot of our defenders, was abysmal at times. I suspect views on Dier's current performances are coloured by last season's performances more than this season's. I think the same applies to Sanchez.
The comment I was replying to was that Dier always has an error in him. In my view, that applies to Romero more than Dier so far this season, but anyone is welcome to disagree with and dislike my opinion.

Dier is not good enough & clearly needs upgrading. But he is 1000% better than Harry Maguire. So by that metric, he deserves to play for England again.

1000% based on what? At least Maguire can win a header in a set piece which Dier is constantly at fault for. Both have their weaknesses but Maguire would start in our team over Dier every day of the week.

Was class, striding about like he owned the place.

Conte could take him somewhere special and I don’t mean Italy.

This type of performance almost frustrates [given his indifferent spells prior] as much as it excites me.

However, anything he did prior to Conte is written off in my mind, and I’m looking forward to seeing how he can improve (and cut out those infamous mistakes) under a world class manager.

Single handed kept us in that game in the first half when we were absolutely abysmal. Best I've seen him since peak Pochettino days.

If he could consistently gives us this level of performance he would be one of our best players but he is a 1 in 5 game kind of a player unfortunately.
