Harry is hot for £24m Cavani

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is considering a £24million move for Serie A sensation Edinson Cavani to bolster his team's attack.

Redknapp is known to want a new talented forward this month to boost Spurs' chances of success.

He is desperate to free up resources by shipping out the likes of David Bentley and Robbie Keane to Birmingham to generate cash.

After being rebuffed in his initial efforts to bring in Newcastle targetman Andy Carroll, Redknapp is looking further afield.

this term for Napoli.

Redknapp is also interested in Cavani's international team-mate Luis Suarez, who is also 23 years old.

But he is particularly excited about Cavani who has been in brilliant form this term after a loan move from Palermo.

Cavani, who has hit 10 goals in 18 games in the Italian league this term and seven in Europe, has a 30 million Euro buy-out clause worth £24m.

He scored against Germany in the World Cup when Uruguay lost the third-place play-off.

His form has got giants Inter Milan interested with the player stating his desire to stay in Italy.

What a difference a season has made for this guy. He was very inconsistent
last season but this year he's been phenomonal. I've only seen 4-5 times this season but he is growing on me. He certainly fits the mould of what we need.

Not a chance of getting him. He's nailed on to go to Inter according to reports coming out of Italy I read when Leo took over the coach job at Inter.....

They've already got Eto'o, Milito and Pandev. Where the hell will he play?

Would be very pleased to see this happen. His technique is superb, he's good in the air and great at holding the ball up. He's really starting to find the net more now too.

He's much more the type of player we need than Suarez - more of a Berbatov than a Defoe say.

He looked poor in the Europa against a weakened Pool. But he has looked good upfront in Serie A, it's just a worry though if he'll produce it here.

Scored a hat-trick against juventus yesterday. He was in the news and we hadnt had a rehashed story for a while.

Very much looks like a 2+2=5 story from the Mirror (somewhat unsurprisingly).

I thought he was poor in the World Cup, particularly compared to Forlan and Suarez but as ever international football isn't a great place to judge a players ability. Sounds like he's had an excellent season and looks better suited to the one up top role than Suarez.

Never going to happen though.

I have not seen him this season but from what i saw in the world cup he did not impress me at all. I think we can/have to do better. The last thing we need is another inconsistent striker!

ROFL THE PICTURE! He's starting to transform into a centaur. Not quite sure he can cut it at PL level, looks kinda weak, I thought he was like 6ft 3-4 but he's only little bit taller than Bale.

Cavani is exactly what we need. He's a Saha type player for anyone who doesn't know anything about him. A touch over 6 foot but unbelievably athletic, great leap and very happy to put himself about. His achilles heal up until this season had been his his inconsistency in front of goal but he has been clinical this year. Not a 24 million player but one I'd love to have at Spurs.

only seen him a few times (WC and couple of Europa games Vs a poor bindippers side) but he has been distinctly average in those games...

If he is the 'marquee' signing we are after i would not be impressed.

Eto'o is about to turn 30 and Milito is already on the wrong side of 30. Pandev doesn't score enough. Cavani will be seen as one for the future.
