I have just got back from the Crawley game what a waste of time that was for second year running we got well beaten by them!

I have to say though that there were some good performances mainly Bostock and Parrett who I thought was excellent. Danny Rose and Obika were bit of a let down but will give them slight excuse that they must have only just got back from far east day or so ago so maybe slightly jet lagged.

However one player who I thought we might see some good things of this season after his rave reviews from his loan at Southend and specially with problems we had a centre back was Dorian Dervitte. Well I couldn't be wrong he was awful tonight I reckon he was at fault for at least 2 of the goals and was very lucky to stay on the pitch after what looked an awful two footed lunge at one of the Crawley players which amazingly went unpunished. His attitude was disgusting. I lost count of the times he played a poor long ball to no one and also refused to tackle a Crawley player and let them just breeze past him. Also lost count of the number of times he would go on a forward run with the ball then lose it and not bother chasing back. His whole attitude tonight was much worse than Berbatovs on a bad day! Even from the warm up you could tell he didn't want to be there tonight.

I saw him against Celtic at the Wembley cup and was slightly concerned about him then when I saw him play and get turned and skinned by Samaras (who at best can be described as an average striker). However thought the whole team played badly that day so put it down to that and maybe nerves at making first start and at Wembley.

However after tonight's performance he should NEVER be allowed near the first team or to put on Tottenham shirt again in any of our teams he was a disgrace.

If he plays against Liverpool on opening day of season we are going to be in real trouble as Gerrard and Torres will take him to the cleaners! Harry needs to get rid of this guy and fast!

I also copied this from Glory Glory from guy on there who was at the game tonight about Dorian Dervitte.

His whole attitude stank. I'm not sure how many of the 4 goals he was responsible for (definitely the 4th) but if ever there was an attitude of "I shouldn't be here" this was it. lazy, un-working, didn't get back to defend when he lost the ball.........everything was shit. And when he was subbed after the 4th goal went in, he was roundly boo'ed. A disgrace tonight, and if he gets near the first team, we're fucked.

We lost 6-1 last year,4-1 this year.
With that sort of improvement we must be nailed on for a CL place.

Just been reading the ITK and paper stuff about Beavers (from sheff Wed) and Bassong maybe that explains his poor attitude tonight if these stories are true as he knows he will be dropping further down the pecking order. But still that shouldn't be excuse as he should be wanting to fight for his place in first team and show Harry that he is good enough to play for our club.

mmm thanks a lot for your comments, look like he needs another year at Southend ..
don't worry, Redknapp confirmed that he and Chimbonda aren't going to start at the start of the season
Hutton - Corluka - new CB (Hudd) - BAE

what about Jansson ? is he any better than Alnwick or can push for first team football next season ?

what about ex-Arsenal Blackwood ? Bostock ? Thownsend ?

In his defence, BOF (all-round good egg if ever there was one) says DD is a lovely chap with a terrific attitude. And he's met him a few times, I believe. And those reports (both match and from fans) during his stay at Southend were outrageously positive.

He is a young man who may well have sensed that he was due his chance and is frustrated that we look like paying 10m for another person rather than give him his chance. He could well be wondering if he's just thrown away the last 2-3 years of his career.

He shouldn't be thinking that but could be excused if he was.

Even though he conceded 4 goals last night jansson had pretty good game nearly saved penalty & made some excellant saves throughout the game. Only seen him play couple of games but on that basis rate him higher than I do Alnwick.

How can we lose 4-1 to crawley town when quite a few of those players seem to be on the fringes of the first team squad?? Seems like a very poor result, what division are crawley in?

I don't think he''ll make it here now.

We've got issues at CB and this summer was a chance for him to show Harry he's good enough to come in and do a job, and go someway to cementing his place in the first team squad.

Unfortunately, Harry has said that many of the young players haven't shown they're good enough to play yet, and as we've just gone out and bought Bassong (if reports are true) that's 5 centre backs who are ahead of him in the pecking order, two of them 23 and one 25. I just can't see him getting much of a chance now...

Blue Square Prem, finished just outside play-offs last year having been top til Feb/March time.
Their manager is a typical lower league/non-league man, doesn't know the meaning of the word friendly. He's been touchline banned about 6 times! They'd have been taken it very seriously! Still no excuse for a side containing talent like ours to lose 4-1, wouldn't have thought that'd go down well.

Agree with this. From what I've seen he just isn't good enough to make it for us and I'm sure Harry is well aware of this. Against Celtic he was at fault for both goals, the first he never picked up his man in the box and was caught ball watching, the second we all know about.....

It will take a lot to come back from that and wouldn't be surprised to see him sold now...

I had hoped Dorian could make the grade this season, but the Celtic game, and this one, seems like he wont.

I dont think it helped in either game that he isnt alongside an experienced centre back - seems he has a tendency for going wandering and losing position and perhaps he needs an organiser next to him to order him around. That being said, there is no excuse for a lack of effort, especially in pre-season when he has had a chance to show himself.

Got terribly skinned by Samaras and failed to show any real pace. He shouldnt be lumbersome, but he just didnt look like he knew how to run fast.

Shame, I think he may go out on loan and then ultimately leave us.

Poor pre season eh? Sell him!!!

Joking aside, Dervitte had a window of opportunity this summer and he has failed to take it. This was his moment, put together some good performances in non-competitive games and a start against Liverpool was there for the taking. It's a shame, I saw him play for the French U-21s late last season and he looked quite handy.

I think this is the reason he hasn't been in the first team yet, he simply isn't good enough.

Just cos a player does well for a few games or in the reserves people go mental that they should be in the 1st team, well I trust Harry he has been in the game for a looooong time and if he thinks they aren't good enough, he's probaby right.

I won't be so quick to right off Dervite completely but from the Celtic game....he lacked mobility but looked a good Championship CB or good in a physical side like Bolton or Stoke. I don't think he will get his chance at Spurs though....

Needs another loan.

Championship side preferably, did well in Lge 1 with Southend so it's a natural progression. Pre-season reserve friendlies aren't a good indicator.
Newcastle as part of Bassong deal!?
