He has stalled in the last few years, hasn't really come on as a footballer and isn't really too close to breaking into the Italy team anytime soon.

There was rightfully a lot of hype around him a few seasons ago, but fundamentally attitude problems, lack of consistency and the emergence of new and better talents in italy have lowered his standing in Italy.

Still he is very talented, and while often frustrating in front of goal he has one hell of a left foot, a bag of tricks and maybe most importantly works hard for his team.

Having said all that, he can also be a little lightweight and I don't think he is suited to the PL. At the moment there are also a number of better Italian players (in my view) who are still young who play in his role such as Bernardeshi, Chiesa, Insigne and Sansone.

Does he look that good?

Players are not as good as their videos but videos are only as good as the skill of the people who make them. And this video is horrible. The first three minutes are just him running into open space, and not even that well.

I'd recommend watching other videos on there for starters. I see this guy as a huge talent but not a finished project. My fear with Serie A --> EPL transition is keeping with the pace and he's one that definitely could. I see his biggest asset being his creative passing--watch (in another video) how many different ways he moves the ball into attacking positions and catches the defenders off guard. Also hard to tell in highlights but seems like he's got a pretty decent work rate to him which is always mandatory for Poch.

I think he'd make a great back up for Alli as well as a dream option in our rotating attackers.

Have you watched him much?

His biggest asset is his movement for me, he has a very good work rate for sure. He just isn't quite good enough yet and there are big question marks regarding his attitude and career progression which suggest he may never really fulfill his talent.

He wont really come to spurs though I don't think. He turned down Juve after all (at a time he was in much better form), and though that might just be because he is an Inter fan I think he also wants regular football. He wont get that at Spurs.

His next move should be to European football hopefuls. Like a Milan, Fiorentina or Lazio. He could also have a fair crack at Roma now Salah has gone. Inter is an option but they have Candreva and its unlikely that Berardi will break through that.

Ultimately though, rumour is Sassuolo will not sell for under £35m. If we are looking at Italy I think there is better value elsewhere, so does everyone else which is why no one is biting yet.

No. He looks a complete show pony. Long runs with the ball only to eventually lose possession. Spectacular looking shots from distance that end up either missing the target or being easy saves. i have enough frustration in my life already without having to shout angrily at this guy .
so Taarabt?

Mostly for international and just clips here and there throughout the season as I follow Milan most in Serie A. From what I've seen it's hard to gauge his potential as a big fish in the small pond of Sassuolo but I still think his passing is incredible for 22, I just find he can be short sided in his dribbling and vision once he's sprinting (admittedly I'm used to Dembele who is one of the best in the world) but I'll defer to your opinion if you see more Sassuolo matches.

With the Italian link it seems this name is being suggested again.

Have never seen him play but the clips leave a lot to be desired. I know it is a YouTube highlight but you expect there to be actual highlights.

Anyone watched this dude play a bit?

not bias as I am Italian and love all italians players and closely monitor most of the talent but Berardi is not a spurs level player

Would you concede that he has raw tools though, that if harnessed correctly, could result in a great player ?

Stats don't tell much of a story themselves, but combine the raw tools with the decent volume of goals and it isn't too disimilar to Son. Son had put up decent numbers for a few years in Germany, but when we bought him, those that had watched him most stated that he was not the finished article and that he would take time to become fully effective for us.

We aren't necessarily desperate in attacking midfield for a person that must immediately be a complete player. Yes we have some injuries there but I'd very much take someone talented who is good enough to be in rotation and offers some pace and goals , with the potential to improve and become an important player in 1-2 years.

Just a thought

he was a prodigy 2-3 years ago and each year he becomes more and more disappointing. It's hard to say I honestly think Italian football is one of the hardest to gauge a true indication of a team/player's abilities so it's hard to say how he would translate into english football or if he would finally relish the potential but yeh

Berardi's stats actually flatter him really, he is a talent, he could be very good. But his valuation is too high (£30m) and there is better value in the market.

He is a player who needs an arm around him to be a success, and a lot of patience. He is not Spurs level yet. He has the potential to become it but people will need to be patient.

Son came here having already been played in the Champions League and playing for a top level German side. Berardi is playing for a lower mid-table side, who play some great stuff, but its a different game.

On side note, when I've watched Sassuolo, as I have semi-regularly in the last few seasons he hasn't really stuck out has being the best player in that team. Pellegrini, Sansone and Zaza all impressed me more in that team.

Like most the time, he's a frustrating player, though he is beginning to get better at that side of his game. But he hits the ball well, works hard and has the ability to run at people and his skill set still gets him some pretty good stats at the end of the season. The problem is he is like that in Serie A, in the PL I fear you will see him struggle to adapt to the little time he has on the ball.

If we buy him I wont be upset, I can understand the logic, he does have real talent and even though he is a frustrating player he gets good stats and is a player that has the 'grinta' that Poch desires. But I don't think he is ready for that kind of move, and I'm not entirely convinced he ever will be.

According to transfermarkt, juventus sold him for 8.5 million in 15/16
Yeah, I read that too, but now after he began to score and proven that he is capable of of 15+ goals a season, they bought him back.

Okay, Juve were co-owners of Berardi until 2015 were they sold his rights as part of the Zaza deal. However, they agreed on a clause which meant Juve could buy him for £25m, Juve activated that clause, Berardi said no and stayed in Sassuolo. The clause expired at the end of last year.

Berardi is 100% a Sassuolo player.
