Some completely different responses on here to an identical thread started yesterday. Strange that.
Finishing 4th after 9 months of football and 38 games ahead of Chelsea which means you qualify for Champions League football...
...only for it to be taken away by a winning penalty by Didier fucking Drogba playing for Chelsea fucking FC in a penalty shoot-out in a different competition..
well that was hard to take. And it made me less emotional about it all. I try not to make a weekend of football ruin the whole week for me, like I used to do. But I still care. Watch every game. Can't stop. Of course.
I cared when we had Modric, VdV and Bale
It's not just about that. I cared then too (obviously), but I also cared when we had rubbish players, when we were fighting for 10th instead of 11th, even when we gathered just 2 points from our first 8 games.
It's not the quality of football or even the level we're at that I think has led to this flatness amongst our support. It's the lack of affinity with, and the lack of identity of, our club.
Spurs right now are that gorgeous girlfriend who you you're always excited about before meeting her, but once you get to her you realise she has nothing between here ears and is actually not great between her legs either. Eventually, you just can't really be arsed as the packaging promises so much more than the product.

You can dress it up (and down) as much as you like but caring and winning are synonymous with our fans and that's whats wrong.
Interesting, expand on this please I think you are onto something. You can dress it up (and down) as much as you like but caring and winning are synonymous with our fans and that's whats wrong.
The fans are slightly to blame as well, we flirted with the Champions League and suddenly acquired 'qualities' we had hated in other supporters, a sense of entitlement, an arrogance etc and we stopped enjoying the smaller things about Spurs.
..
For me, weirdly, I see CL as a way of accruing the resources to be able to consistently challenge for silverware of all levels - even EL. Its a bit of backward way of looking at it, but it seems to do anything in this game you need to be on the right end of the CL monies. We're on the wrong end of it. It is pretty much black and white, get CL, get a better team, win stuff. Levy missed step 2 last time. And led to the dissapointing attitude of some fans who think the EL and Lge cups are a hinderance to us getting into the top four, sad times.
