Tottenham Hotspur's Mousa Dembele has admitted he is "not proud" of the altercation with Diego Costa which earned him a six-match ban, but says he will learn from the experience.

It appears we did contest the extra games ban.

"Spurs did not contest the FA charge of violent conduct, but contested the governing body's assertion that the usual three-match ban was "clearly insufficient" -- a claim that was upheld by an independent board".

Should have just taken him out with a strong tackle. More damage, half the ban.

Quite so Dougal . But I have to go along with Dembele's 'not proud' comment . I posted this view after the match, receiving north of a ton of negs here from those apparently proud of the lost Spurs heads in that match .

Also , Poch said he was 'proud' . I had trouble getting my head round any of it tbh . Just me 'n Danny Rose flagged that there was anything amiss with the Spurs display that day .

People don't seem so proud of the Chelski match nowadays I note .

To be fair, the players and many fans were as one, frustrated seeing the dream disappear. It may have been wrong in hindsight (not you), but it was fitting at the time. If we had drawn that game with a whimper I think our fans would have lost it with the players.

Yeh, Looking back , it was mad to overstate that we even had any chance of the title at that point winding everybody up . It was only the slimmest of mathematical chances , needing Leicester to suddenly collapse . We'd missed out on the title in reality at an earlier point . Oh well .

It wasn't over until it was over. And then the frustration released.

I was proud of my team at the time until I read we didn't have one shot on their goal after the ciaos.

That is something you can't be proud of as we played into their hands.

Regarding the game as a spectacle. It was the most dramatic game I had seen supporting Tottenham for a long time.

Looking back again I feel Pochettino must have learnt from the experience, as I feel that he made a few mistakes too. His persona changed towards the end of season, he seemed agitated and that reflected in the teams performances.

I did like the fact that we were not a soft touch that day. Got stuck in. If we can harness it in the future then it's a positive.

We could have ended up with nine men on the pitch in that game, if we play like that in the future, it wont be a positive!

I don't think I'll be reading the I'm Not Proud quotes for Dier and Lamela. I bloody well hope not anyway.

I think most fans were proud there seemed to be a fight in the team and we didn't role over and have our tummy tickled like has happened so many times before. However, the way we went about it was just wrong, unproductive and I fear an unhelpful narrative will now ensue e.g. Can't deal with pressure (not to mention sky or whoever building next seasons game as battle of the bridge).

the most negative point to come out of this is that players like costa and before him suarez do everything in their power to wind opposition players up and get away with it time and time again, the sneaky pinch or kick unseen by refs or linesmen or even seen and ignored that human nature takes over and self preservation comes into play, until the grappling at corners and as said the sneaky tactics of a basic cheat are stamped on hard by the powers to be and players feel some degree of protection we will always see players being punished for retaliation.

I wrote at the time that I thought it was a great game; never seen Spurs fight so much (as per. play on the pitch kind of 'fight'). I didn't see the handbags after the game however.... Dembele did get a bit carried away, but whether it deserved a six-gamer I question.
Mauricio seemed right into it as well I should note.

Sorry 'Gilzean...' I know this is a debate that is a little pointless now: but I still thought we were in with a chance, admittedly a small one, when we played Chelsea.
Leicester had 'won' 4-5 games 1 - 0.......not exactly winning form was it? If Spurs had won at Chelsea who knows what might have happened?

To overstate it would not have been wise. However to concede would also have been unwise. Up until that game we looked composed and confident.

As regards the slimmest of mathematical chances I was foolishly banking on there being no St. Totteringham's moment this season. I live in Islington and am now paying the price.
