He's an instinctive player, who will disappear in games, but used have that knack of being in the right place at the right time. Unfortunately for a number of reasons, that knack and general mojo has been missing for the last 12 months.

check the last 12 months. His been playing with injuries and been in and out due to injuries. He's been asked to play in different positions due to other injuries and formation changes. The team generally has been poor. I believe this is Alli second or third game of the season out of eight.

The highlighted word is where your argument fails, he just isn't decisive, he maybe a genius, but until he marries doing the simple stuff brilliantly and the decisive genius stuff at the right time he'll always look a lot less than he should be.
Decisive as in deciding games with his moments of magic and not the choosing of option A or B in a particular moment.

I just don’t think you can say injuries are the excuse. His limitations were there way before that. Even in his first two seasons I thought even though the guy scored like crazy, I couldn’t put my figure on what it was at the time but I just think he’s a very limited player.

His injuries may explain his lack of form but as you can see we are discussing his overall limitations as a footballer which is evident to see over the passed four years and not related to his injuries.

Let’s not forget he’s been utter rubbish for England too and a goal for England at the World Cup against Sweden does not gloss over that.

I always think it’s useful to read what other sensible rival fans think of spurs players because they can be a lot more objective. Son and Kane for example are widely regarded as two top talents but Alli is regarded as really overrated and just not a very good footballer at all.

Yes when on form Alli clearly knows how to score goals, but when he isn’t scoring his overall game contribution is absolutely useless and it’s been like that for four years. Now the goals have long since dried up and we are left with the Dele Alli we had all along without the goals glossing over, a hugely frustrating player with many flaws.

I look at other attacking players like Mane, Sterling, Silva, Firminio, Salah and even when they aren’t scoring they offer their teams many attributes. Alli doesn’t.

Wow..

So you're saying Alli is a limited footballer? I don't think his limited personally not many players can do what Alli does.

You're saying Alli is over rated by other fans? Ok the same fans that said Kane is a one season wonder and is a diver. The same other fans that say Tottenham are a better team without Kane.

You mentioned Mane Sterling Silva Salah all the same sort of players- short low gravity winger type player not anywhere the type of player Alli is.
You said he was utter rubbish for England at the world cup, do you remember he was injured going into that world cup (Southgate played more to Lingard ) and yes injuries are a major aspect, his hamstrings were always wrapped up.

I remember people said Sterling was utter rubbish not Alli and the same other fans claimed Kane were shit too and only scored pens.

Anyway it looks to me that Dele has a lot of haters even amongst his own supporters ,regardless of what he does or does not do he will i suppose divide opinion.
I'm not paid to defend Alli and if he deserve criticism so be it. I just believe his getting an unusual amount of stick without even playing. Personally I feel DA is a wonderful at times cheeky player. I'm more optimistic when he plays we can win games and hope he gets back to full fitness.

I personally quite like him as a person, but if he isn't scoring goals his play is terrible for us. It's like having a passenger.

Well, we can both agree that he was objectively no worse today than at Colchester.

Personally think they are being cautious with him over the hamstring. Although that doesn’t really fit in with playing 90 minutes Vs Colchester. But still amazing how far his star has fallen. If Pochettino best Xi is Ndombele Winks Sissoko which is how it’s looking. You have 6 players fighting over 1 place Dele Eriksen Lo Celso lamela Moura Sessegnon. Certainly got a fight on his hands.

He'll be back, class player who's suffered from injuries.
Definite quality let's hope it's not him moaning about Poch training methods.
By the sound of things he needs to get his head back into football and leave the side show behind.

A preemptive nobody start in on him here. It was a team/collective humiliation of which he was only part. I thought he gave good effort for someone only back 2 weeks from injury. And it was Poch's decision to start him.

He slows down our attacks and dawdles on the ball too long. Tries to be too cute. We should cash in.

He at least made good runs today and took up good positions but hopeless when getting the ball.
