Don't think I've ever seen Veloso play, but from what other people have said sounds like he'll not bad. Isn't he a bit young and inexperienced for what we need?

I doubt Levy is in a rush to sack DC, Ramos was his choice so he'll wait to see what happens with him before giving him the boot.

I heard that Comolli was being given a lesser role, not sacked. Though, as i've said in other threads, Ramos assesment of Comolli's purchases must have really affected his standing within the club. They basically backed Comolli over Jol, only for Ramos to come in and essentially say the squad isn't good enough. From press conferences earlier in the season, it seems Levy had been advised that we should be challenging the top 4 with this squad, hence Jol's departue. The fact we had to buy or tried to buy players in jan in the exact same positions as Jol asked for in the summer, must have gone down very poorly with the board. How many minutes have £30 million worth of players (Bent, Kaboul and Kpb) bought in the summer played under Ramos? Can the board accept that? I know others such as B-C disagree with me here, but I just think it will be very hard for the board to take Comolli's advise now, and that is a key part of the DofF role.

Cheers for posting PLTuck.

I'd be shocked if DL sacked DC so I have my doubts about this ITK

Veloso would be good though...

exactamundo. can you imagine someone either arriving or leaving each season ever since hoddle left?

(pleat takes over 2003/04)
(arnesan, jol in and santini in/out 04/05)
(arnesan out 05/06)
(dc in 06/07)
(jol out, ramos in 07/08)
(dc out 08/09)???

and this is just the management team. doesn't make for a lot of continuity does it?

edit: as joey55 says, they'll at most reduce his influence within the club as another sacking will just further undermine DL's decision to go with a european style system.

If Comolli does get the boot, it'll be quite hard to replace him with someone of genuine stature and knowledge. Ie someone Ramos will respect and accept as his superior in management reporting lines.

Remember Levy says that Ramos reports to Comolli...
:rofl::rofl::rofl:

The most experienced DoF around is Frankie Arnesen, and he won't be coming back. There are zero experienced DoFs of British nationality that I can think of. And there are lots of rumours that Ramos and his Sevilla DoF Monchi did not agree on either signings (eg Kone, Mosquera), trophy priorities (La Liga or Europe) or who should be in the team (Capel or Adriano etc).

We might have to go Dutch again - Hollland is one of the few footballing countries in the world where DoFs seem to grow on trees.

It would seem bad to sack him for the reason you point oput. But at the same time and far more importantly, it is crucial that they have faith in his judgement as he plays such a vital role at the club. Given Ramos assesment and apparent desire to go on yet another huge spending spree, can the board really have fath in Comolli's judgement? If they don't trust his opinion, then they have no choice but to sack him. There isn't any other option. I think alot depends on how they view his work at the youth level and how successful they feel the scouting networks he has in place are doing.

From what I've seen of Veloso he is very similar to Carrick - so I'd love to see him at Spurs cos I was (and still am) a big Carrick fan. This is why I don't see Man Utd going for him - they're already ready well covered in that position to be spending big money on him, no matter how highly Queiroz may rate him.

I'm not getting my hopes up too much, but as it appears Newcastle are after Veloso too (according to Geordie press) it would be hilarious if we beat them to a 3rd top signing having already done so with Woodgate and Modric.

Spurs is a club rich in tradition and if there's one thing that has become traditional in recent years it is that we do love to give the sack. Barely a year goes by without us sacking someone.

As I'm rather partial to Ramos I suggest that we sack DC just to keep those sacking types happy. It's a well extablished fact in football that all successful clubs regularly sack key members of their management set-up. Sacking breeds success.

Isn't COYS the board where DC is held in approximately as high regard as the devil?

Don't believe he'll leave the club.

.

I'd imagine the number one target will be Pitarch. He came very close to tempting Ramos to Athletico (according to the Revista show), so they obviously repsect each other. He built the sides that were so successful at Valencia for Cuper and Benitez and within a short space of time has turned things round at Atletico, who are on the verge of CL of years of spending big and failing. I'm sure he'd be the number one target and has a CV on a different level to Comolli.
