I just wish he would stop pinging 60 yard passes to the opposition. He's not Beckham ;-)

Other than that, he's a super bloke - he has a lot of heart and he is doing really well at the moment. No sentiments for being a top bloke though, we are winning with him at the back - I'm sure thats why he is playing as much as he is. Even AVB said he's glad he stayed!!!

Felt a bit nervous after seeing Dembele go off injured, he seemed to be our lucky charm when it came to picking up results, but after seeing Dawsons stats for this season i feel alot more assured.

I absolutely love the guy. He's 100% Tottenham, and a damn good defender who had the guts to turn down a move and fight for his place. I'm so glad he did.

So happy Dawson is making me eat my words this season. In the summer I wouldn't have blinked if he'd been sold but I can't fault him this season.

Great attitude, great leader and great performances.

Filled the Kaboul shaped gap in the centre of defence...and then some!

Superb, Michael

Our centre backs are sorted. We release Gallas and have Vertonghen Kaboul Dawson and Caulker

We could do with looking at better competition for our full backs.

He's making it hard for Kaboul to slide straight back into the back 4, him and Vertonghen are doing so well together.

So glad he turned down the move and stayed to fight, been in good form and is a top bloke.

Out of interest at what point in those starts (or before) did Lloris take over in goal for the league?

Love him!! What a attitude, always smiling and never gives less than 110%. I was in the Park Lane at the end when he was over chucking his shirt to the fans, you could see it meant to much to him.

You can see that AVB had his views on him but has said he's happy he has stayed. I for one are very happy as well. There's only one Michael Dawson!!

Agreed with the first part. Maybe when Danny Rose comes back, we could have enough cover with KW, KN, DR and Disco unless one or more is allowed to leave.

I do wish people would stop patronising Dawson with all this "heart" stuff. The reason he is coping with AVB's style (which I had severe doubts he could do) is because, at 29, he has become a mature defender who reads the game. He's old enough now to use anticipation to cover for his lack of pace. The game has plenty of intelligent defenders who do this, but generally their skills and knowledge don't get dismissed as "heart". Michael Dawson is not a kid anymore, he's a seasoned footballer who has played in the Premiership for eight years.

We all know he has limitations and isn't the most cultured footballer but sometimes you just need a defender who simply enjoys defending.

On paper he probably wouldn't even be first choice with a fully fit Kaboul but football is not played on paper, its real life and Dawson's grabbed his chance and Kaboul may well struggle to get back in.

Which brings me to the real point of this thread.

Dawson's attitude is first class. Instead of sulking when told he's not first chioce, he has decided to prove the manager wrong and fight for his place. It shouldn't really be remarkable but in the modern game it somehow is.

If every player at Spurs displayed the same attitude we'd stand a far greater chance of winning trophies.
Spot on.

This is the reason why I hated HR comments about the EUFA cup so much, it just completely develops the wrong kind of attitude.

I loved Yippee attitude, he turned around said he would fight for his place. To be honest I miss him, he may not have been the best, but he was certainly undervalued as a player. If it was not for him, we would never have beaten Wetspam 4-3 that time, he was the one who made a tackle/pass that started the whole move off.

Love Dawson's attitude, wish AVB would ban him from hoofing the ball in training and force/train him to look for the pass.

One thing is for sure, if QPR managed to sign him in the summer, they wouldn't be in trouble now

A born leader and a damn fine defender
