Which if he was a success would end up being paid off in Champion's League payments. Didn't we get £60m when we qualified last time? I'm not saying to throw everything at him, you just need to spend money to make money.
Those wages are a lot less than I thought they'd be tbh, if we're offering Bale £130k a week it means it's in our criteria.
Those wages, are probably post-tax. Villa is top 30 highest paid players in the world.
But let's say it cost us 30 million (wages and fee) to get him for 3 years. And we get CL next year. And we do get 60 million for it.
If we don't make it the next year (like last time) then we've spend essentially half of our windfall on one player as by the time we realize we're not making it back, he's 34 and worthless on the market.
It becomes tricky.
And I love Villa and would love to have him. Way more than Leandro. I'm just trying to look at this in a way I think Levy might look at it.
Doesn't make me right.
