Joe Lewis has just realised he’s f*cking mintedThe ITK a few weeks ago was sell before we can buy... where’s the money coming from? have we finally got naming rights sorted for the stadium or something?
According to PO: Levy's offer was 15m
who cares!!!!!!The ITK a few weeks ago was sell before we can buy... where’s the money coming from? have we finally got naming rights sorted for the stadium or something?
Exactly lol, Levy could've been hiding it under a mattress for years and years until he finally got his fanboy crush Jose in the door and now he's having a bloody party, who cares where the money is coming from, we've had years of rubbish transfer windows and let downs why can't we have a blinder of a tw for once.who cares!!!!!!
Or Dele...Only way this happens if we're selling them someone like Moura etc
who cares!!!!!!
However, with Ings being homegrown, could be a big factor as we have too many foreign players and showing no signs of selling any currently or any concrete interest.I think there is a chance on this one as we seem to have found a pot of gold from somewhere, a few points though:
1) Would Ings want to come here? where lets make this clear, he will NOT be a BACK-UP, I hate that wording with a passion, he will challenge Kane and he will get plenty of minutes with us being in 4 competitions, he would allow us to play 2 strikers at the start of some matches or to have that as an option to change to during matches, for example against Everton putting on another striker would've caused them some different problems, but the question is would Danny want to go from being the main man 90 mins every week to being an important squad player for us? I know he went to Liverpool and that didn't work out but he's 28 now so on one hand he might want to play every week to get into England squad but on the other hand if he's at a 'bigger' club then possibly more chance he will get picked anyway, Southgate quite likes Spurs English players... tough one
2) Could we actually afford him? Only DL knows but I'm guessing with 2 years left on his deal he'd be minimum £40 million
3) Would Saints actually sell him? Again a tricky one as on one hand without him they could go down, he's that good. He scored something like 65% of their goals last season, but £40m to a club like Southampton for a 28yr old who has had injury issues in the last could be a good deal for them, too good to refuse
4) Main Q is, would be actually be what Jose wants? I think we could get round the above 3 points quite possibly but I'm just surprised by the link as whilst he does tick a few boxes : homegrown, works hard, great attitude, good finisher, can hold-up fairly well, decent pace, he's hardly a typical Jose striker who are usually 6ft+ machines like Drogba, Costa etc, but if he wants a slightly different option then Ings could be ideal.
5) Bigtime squad strength whatever the answers are to all of the above if we did sign him we'd be in properly bigboy territory with our squad depth and quality, Ings and Kane would be up there with Aguero & Jesus, Werner & Abraham/Giroud and better than any other teams 1st two choice strikers, teams like Real Madrid etc very often have a big name striker on the bench and so have the team's Jose has managed in the past, if we want to win things and challenge across all 4 competitions then ideally we do need a 2nd choice striker of the quality of Ings
6) Risks having said what i've said in point 5 and as much as Ings is one of my fave prem players at the moment, he is 28, he is slightly injury prone and if we have a spare £40m remaining then possibly it could be better spent on someone like Edouard who is equally ready to go but a little younger with some sell-on value and/or we sign for example a Josh King for £20m and spend the other £20m on a creative midfielder and then sell someone like Sissoko or Lamela etc to give the extra space in the squad.
Much to ponder, I'd like it if we are actually going for him absolutely zero issues with it and I can actually believe it and ITK have called it before but if so then we 100% need Lo Celso and Ndombele to both stay fit otherwise we will still suffer from the simple fact we have no-one to actually get the ball to these great attacking players, other than that we will have the best squad i've ever know as a Spurs fan.
Very good point mateHowever, with Ings being homegrown, could be a big factor as we have too many foreign players and showing no signs of selling any currently or any concrete interest.
