Dear Spurs fans...
A famous old saying, is your cup half empty or half full.. meaning are you happy with your lot, or are you always moaning about what you don't have... I found myself after the Manchester United result feeling my cup is half full... why? I watched the game, saw how our new manager has all our players playing with confidence, playing with purpose and a plan. We were the better team on the day, against the current champions and league leaders. I am delighted with the way things are going at the Spurs, we have gone one better than last season, we are playing a cup final at THE NEW WEMBLEY, who would have dared dream that a couple of months ago? We are in the latter stages of the Uefa cup, and would still be in the FA cup if not for a couple of nieve defensive mistakes.

I... personally am delighted with the new manager, the team, the directors.. and the club in general. My cup most certainly is .... half full... and filling by the day.

I thought about starting a thread, but better to put it in here. A year ago, I remember watching 2 games in late Jan/early Feb. A 2nd leg semi-final defeat to the goons, followed the next week by a 4-0 thrashing at home to United. I was very ill with a cold the weekend of the United game, and I slunk back to bed after getting up to watch it, totally miserable. I have a cold this week too, but instead of the usual Spurs depression that goas along with it, I am reflecting on 2 very different results from the same fixtures. Of course I was devastated to give up the goal so late on Saturday, but within hours I was thinking about how far we've come since Ramos and Gus came in. I was a big supporter of the big Dutchman and will never forget what he did for us, but I'm truly excited at our prospects now. Three quarters full!

Depends if it was initially full or empty. If it was initially full, then it's half empty. If it was initially empty, then it's half full.

I dont want to be a grumpy bastard but i feel like playing devils advocate for a mo as the spurs fan in me wants to be wary

Yes we look good at the moment, but this can change very quickly, why has nobody mentioned the fact this is something of a honeymoon period caused by a change in training? We've improved but we were pretty crap before this, its more like what we were expecting and just like we're 'back on track'

A final at Wembley is great, but would we be that excited about a league cup final if we weren't having a crummy season? How many other clubs really care that much about it. Its a massive game because we need it for europe, not becuase its a prestigious thing to win

We're still a very long way from rescuing our league season and its not impossible that a certain dutchman could have turned our dip into this with a few good results, then we'd be saying all the same things about him.

DON'T MISUNDERSTAND ME!
Im incredibly positive about the future, i think we have all the right things in place to do some great things (I even like Commolli). But lets not get too far ahead of ourselves yet, its not like Spurs fans are prone to that anyway are we :shifty:

again just to reiterate- me quite happy, me be devils advocate!

I'm feeling the good vibes as well.. It seems like we have a very strong squad and good replacement in every position..( perhaps a little short on strikers ). I'm even feeling positive about Berbs.. I have a feeling that he might stay, and if we win the Cup Final and keep improving in the league under Ramos.. then maybe he will think that Spurs are big enough for him..

If he don't then we should get a LOT of money for him, 25 - 30 millions.. And for that we can buy 2 quality signings in midfield and 1 upfront..

Feeling so confident at the moment, not like me at all.. Wouldn't be so typical Spurs if we loose to Derby , when everyone is on a high..

Trust me, I have longer experience than most, and it would be so typical Spurs if we lost at Derby.

I have already said summat like that somewhere,
like Watford 2 seasons ago, remember Swindon moons ago too. If it is do-able we can do it - or undo it.

And it would be so typical SC for 'Ramos out' threads to spread like wildfire in response. Most containing accusations of 'tactical naivety' or some other such hokum.

Indeedy-doody.

I'm frankly amazed that they didn't start after the Sunderland game.

I'm assuming the people who start those threads don't actually watch the games. THey obviously saw the result was a 2-0 win so assumed it was a fine performance.

Pleased most of you agree... I feel this is a side that will not get knocked over easily by anyone. They really competed like giants all over the park against United, and look like a team, not a team of individuals, which has always been our achilles heel. I am looking forward to the final, looking forward to Saturday (as always) and I am looking forward to the rest of the season.

Definately half full at the moment, you know you are going in the right direction when your mates who supposrt other teams are pleased they got our fixtures out the way when we were poor.

I was a pretty big supporter of Ramos even when BMJ was still about, and still firmly beleive he can really create something special here.

interesting point, my friend is a man utd fan and recently said that he wished man utd had faced spurs a bit earlier as we made them look pretty bad and all the man utd fans ive spoken to owned up and said that Spurs definetely played better and Huddlestone had an amazing game and out did their midfield.

Remember this was a full strength Man Utd midfield, made me feel good :)

It's much more than half full. Indeed I'd go as far as 80% full as I reckon we really are just 2 first team players short of being good enough not only to challenge the top 4 next year, but to go the distance with the top 3.

So you are agreeing that we are improving but tempering it with a lot of caution, therefore being negative (for the use of a better word), equating it to being in the half empty brigrade

Hmmmm...... although I hear where you are coming from and like you tend to be cautious, I have looked at the facts and in my opinion comparing where we were going pre Ramos to now, I have to agree that the cup is half full.

But SS57 and other do have a point. How many times have you seen us outplay big teams looking positive and unbeatable, and then to lose or struggle against teams in the next couple of matches where frankly with respect, we are better than?

We were v poor away against Everton 2 weeks ago.
Now before anyone tells me they are 4th in the league and have x many points, the team they had out that night was missing many key players and i don't believe that they are that good and were there for the taking but unfortunately we never got going after the Arse game.

So easy to be positive after two fine results!
But our last four league games LLWD!
Our next two league games are Derby and Birmingham (both away), if we can get two wins then maybe I will start to feel more positive, but I am not getting carried away yet! August is too fresh in my mind, many supporters already had us in fourth then.
Feb 24th is massive for us, our passport to a third UEFA campaign, if we fail our season may implode!
Sorry I'm more than half empty!
