 Crouch scores a tap in to an empty goal and suddenly he's a scoring god on par with Ronaldo (the Brazilian)

That goal was Lennon's, Crouch just scored it. Don't get me wrong, Crouch played very well and worked hard. Well played to him, but even Palacios or Freund would've scored that goal. Lennon put it on a plate for him.

I can say with confidence that Zokora would have missed.

Crouchie has just hit the winner at the San Siro! Unbelievable!

From my reading of late our strikeforce appear to have suddenly gone from the hottest quartet in the League to the most wasteful, waste of space threesome that should have been swapped in the transfer window. Now, we all know they haven't been at their best but some of the criticism has been over the top. As 'arry says, it's hard to get better players. And we still have a foursome - people tend to conveniently forget that VDV is essentially our second striker when saying our strikers are rubbish.

There was a major change in personnel to get there though - from Berbs-Keane-Mido-Defoe to Pav-Crouch-Defoe

Crouch has scored some important goals for us over the last year and two of which that will become iconic ones (city and ac) when we look back at each stage of the success story from the Harry Redknapp era.

The guy is not a predator in front of goal or in anyway prolific but he does score and is a very important part of our squad as he offers so much more as van der vaart will lay testiment to....

Big up Mr Peter C and his extra long body

It will be interesting to see how many goals Crouch-Defoe-VDV-Pavlyuchenko score this season.

...and yet, i'm pretty sure that most people, myself included, would take the first quartet over the second any day of the week.

Primarily because Keane + Berbatov was the best striker partnership we've had since Sheringham + Klinsmann and there isn't a combination that measures up to that level of quality in the second quartet.

trouble is they weren't really evenly distributed throughout the season, alot of them came at the start. so we were left with massive barren spells after christmas

6 of those 37 goals came from the wigan game alone and another 4 at hull.

Peter Crouch needs more love from you people.

agreed, im getting a bit bored with this forum, crouch has scored a lot of crucial goals , he puts in a lot of effort and has good control and hold up play, yeah sometimes he doesnt have a great game but players like drogba have bad games and torres etc. Some of you should be happy with how we are doing and just hope that this form team wise continues. The more bigger teams we beat the more confidence our players will get and then play a better game more consistently .

Im backing crouchie all the way

Because he scores a goal against some ageing, dysfunctional Italian team, Crouch is now seen as our Marco Van Basten.

He's shite. The two league goals illustrate this and if I was a betting man, would back Crouch to score less than 5 league goals all season. For a team challenging for champions league status ain't good enough.

And whats all this bollocks about him needing more love. The useless twat is earning £70k a week of which I'm contributing to.

The thing with Pav, Crouch and Defoe is I like them all. The problem is we will have an ineffective strikeforce if they are our entire choice of strikers.

They're not flops but they're not great either. We should sell two and keep one at the end of the season.

Have to say I agree with this to an extent (except he's not 'useless' by a long stretch). I was impressed by his whole performance against Milan, not just the goal, but he needs to be performing consistently before he deserves to be 'loved' by us. Over the season so far, he's been poor.

A fantastic season in the Champion's league, but even his biggest fans would surely admit he's been below average for a striker in the premiership.

You've forgotten that in 2006-2007 our strikers had scored just five goals in the first 13 games, three of them penalties? We had similar goalfests against weak sides in 07-08.

Heck Kaz, if our strikers manage 10 goals in 2 games before the end of the season we'll be laughing. Hope they come good against City and Chelsea!

Seriously I'm sure they will get some; they are definitely due a few. I'm kinda hoping that as the law of averages asserts, they should start scoring just in time for our end of season surge.

The problem the club faces is that it is going to be difficult to off load any of the three strikers for decent money. I doubt whether any of them will be moving to a bigger club, so that leaves the mid to lower reaches of the PL, where clubs will bulk at a hefty transfer fee combined with wage demands which they can't meet.
