Corluka is the slowest fullback in the EPL under the age of 30 and maybe all of Europe. He doesn't provide much offensively either. If we can get 8+ million for him, I'd be glad.

Saying Corluka offers nothing going forward is one of the most ignorant things I've read on here.

Sorry Houston, but...he's right.

Charlie might not be that pacy but he is one of the most solid full-backs, defensively, in this country.

As for the offensive-lack myth, I have heard it before, and whenever you offer any evidence against it it is just ignored. It is true that he doesn't overlap with his winger like Hutton does and whip crosses in...as much, though he does do it, I've seen him. But some would argue that by doing that Hutton often gets in Lennon's way, or makes him pretty much redundant. But Charlie does find runners with excellent through balls that lead to either dangerous crosses or direct shots on goal - this is very much offensive play, and very much overlooked by thosse who just want to see him dashing to the byline at 300 MPH.

Corluka is a good right back who can provide cover on a number of positions. He is also, as several of you have pointed out, a close friend to one of our top three players.

It would be crazy to sell him. If Walker can realize his potential we should sell Hutton instead.

BS.

HR already said he didnt want to get rid of Kranj in case it upsets the other Croats.

He's not going to split them up. Not that Kranj and Corky used to be best pals. Anyone see that vid of him chanting with fans about Kranj being fat years ago?

Against Fulham, Corluka came on and immediately linked up with Lennon brilliantly like he did last season. Hutton, while he's a good attacking force in his own right, doesn't team up as well with Lennon.

Corluka's a good player, keep him if we can.

I would definitely keep him (and play him ahead of Hutton).

But given that Liverpool are one of the interested teams, I wouldn't rule out a swap deal involving Glen Johnson coming to the Lane. As it happens Johnson has also been linked with Juve....

One man who will not be going anywhere, though, is Vedran Corluka, with Redknapp making it clear that there is no substance to reports linking the Croatian full-back with a move to Liverpool.

"He [Corluka] is very much part of my plans here," he said.

"He is certainly not available on loan."

Good to hear, I was very surprised when Hutton played against Everton though, thought Corluka would be a lock for a start after his good performance against Fulham and Hutton's injury.

I doubt either right back will be off in January, but if young Mr Walker does well for Villa, one may leave in the summer.

This and I would think it would be Charlie. Don't me wrong I like the guy but I think his lack of pace is not good enough for a top 4 side.

Interestingly, I think Corluka is better offensively and Hutton slightly better at the back. I really can't choose between the two, but I don't think either are as good as Phil Neville. If we really are looking at him I'd have him in, in a shot. Then get rid of both with Walker being his understudy and future replacement.

You do realise Corluka is not the bald Scottish guy frm Glasgow right?

Is that referring to the first sentence? A full backs role offensively is to link up and bring the best out of his winger. Corluka links up better with Lennon and we are more creative going forward down the right hand side with him in the team. But I think Hutton provides better defensive qualities being stronger in the tackle and keeping up with his man. Granted, Charlie is taller and better in the air. But his strongest point over Hutton is being better on the ball, something which compliments him better going forward rather than at the back.

Hutton is stronger in the tackle but there is no doubt Corluka reads the game much better and is therefore a more accomplished defender.

Better positional sense and ability to read the game make him a better player all round even though he lacks a bit of pace and agression.

You have a point but I think both play there position. I just feel we get caught out more that side defensively when Corluka's playing. I want solid, good defenders at full back...not wing backs. I guess it's not my choice though. I think apart from up front, the only position where we lack top quality is in both full back areas.
