Just thought I'd share this with you lovely people.

Claims we are prepared to let Corluka go, and their are interested parties:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...dran-Corluka-targeted-Liverpool-Juventus.html

"Liverpool and Juventus have made enquiries for Vedran Corluka after Tottenham intimated he could leave White Hart Lane.

The Croatian international has hardly figured for Tottenham this season making just four appearances in the Barclays Premier League.

Harry Redknapp is looking to trim his squad before bringing in reinforcements this month and Corluka has become surplus to requirements following the improved form of Alan Hutton.

Liverpool are in a strong position to land the 24-year-old as Director of Football Strategy Damien Comolli signed Corluka for Tottenham in August 2008.

Roy Hodgson's faltering side need cover at right-back, given Glen Johnson's poor form, while the versatile Corluka could also play in a central position.

Serie A side Juventus are also looking to bolster their defence and have also placed Corluka high on their wishlist.

Meanwhile, Kyle Walker is in line for a dramatic Aston Villa debut at his first club Sheffield United on Saturday after arriving on loan from Tottenham. The 20-year old right-back passed a medical and put pen to paper on a season-long deal that will lift some of the gloom surrounding under-pressure Villa manager Gerard Houllier.

As an extra bonus Harry Redknapp has given his permission for Walker to play in the FA Cup, starting with this weekend's tricky third round tie at Bramall Lane."

I don't know about you, but I have been reading about the Kyle Walker loan to Villa and Villa fans asking if they are likely to try-and-buy. What I was thinking was that as of next year I expect Walker to be competing with either Hutton or Corluka for the right back role - so one or t'other of them was possibly to be sold in teh Summer. With a fuller line-up of centre-halves (at last), it is possible that this could happen and Aitch could use Kaboul as cover for Hutton.

What say you?

I say don't go Vedran.
We need all the bodies we can get in defence at present and I do rate Hutton but for Me Corluka should be first choice right back.
I rate kaboul too but I see him more as a CB.
2nd Juve link for a Spurs Croatian in two days must mean they're after Niko.

Well if there is any truth in this I would surprised and its the Mail we are talking about here.

We have just let Walker go on loan to Villa, unless Harry full intends to have Kaboul as direct cover for Hutton, given that we have a great options at CB. In other words Kaboul is first a CB but would cover for Hutton. Perhaps Harry wants to trim the squad and balance it out a bit better and there is the fact that he wants to keep his preferred players happy. I mean if he views Dawson and Gallas as first choice now.

Again though this probably doesn't have much substance to it - its the Mail.

no way, he is our 1st choice right back ffs, went through a poor spell at the beginning of the season and was rightly dropped, but I think long term he will get back in when given the chance. Hutton has been good, and should continue for now - but is not a patch on an in form Charlie. Why would we piss modders off by selling his best mate? If between now and the summer he doesnt get a look in then maybe, but defo not in jan.

I doubt either right back will be off in January, but if young Mr Walker does well for Villa, one may leave in the summer.

Surprising everyone seems to think Corluka is better than Hutton.

Corluka is the slowest fullback in the EPL under the age of 30 and maybe all of Europe. He doesn't provide much offensively either. If we can get 8+ million for him, I'd be glad.

Saying Corluka offers nothing going forward is one of the most ignorant things I've read on here.

Maybe this is why we're looking at Phil Neville who can play right-back, left-back and defensive midfield. In these days of limited squad sizes, a player like him becomes more valuable.
I'm not saying I want us to sign him, I'm saying that that is why we may be interested.

He is an excellent footballer and links brilliantly with Lennon as we saw last season and when he came on against Fulham.

Keep him.

Hutton has done well, I like the fact he is so positive but Corluka will be first choice in long run- and why help Liverpool improve their crap team to compete with us.

That is what i was going to say also.

I rate both Hutton and Corluka, to me if Harry is wanting attacking football thats why Hutton has been playing as he IMO does offer more going forward and has more pace.

It all depends on walker if he does well at Villa he could well be our first choice RB in the next season or two

Corluka is a much better defender and is a much better partner to Lennon. He was just out of form, got injured and Hutton took his opportunity reasonably well.
If I was to sell one it would be Hutton - but I say keep both.
