Why? Hojberg doesn’t suit our system, we need players that do. Gallagher as an attacking 8 is way ahead of skipp and hojberg imo.
If Johnson and Gallagher mean we can go big on 2 quality forwards next season (foreign) I’m all
For it
Gallagher to replace PEH this season, and maybe we should try for Eze to replace GLC next season

I think this is the way to look at this transfer.

It's not just a Gallagher for Hojbjerg replacement, it's effectively in the short and medium term, Gallagher replacing Hojbjerg and Skipp.

They have brought in Lavia, Caicedo. Already had Enzo. THeir central midfield is pretty packed so although he's started their games so far he will likely be benched in the coming weeks. Gives us an opening. Can definitely see him thriving in our system

Højbjerg has a skillset that is obviously different from the rest of our CM's, and especially useful if you need to keep hold of a lead. He's probably the best stabilizing CM we have. The most true DM skillset of all our CM's. Gallagher might be more dynamic, but would you replace Sarr with him in the current lineup?

It's a lot of money for nothing except the HG-status really, IMO.

I don't really understand what Gallagher does. He's an 8 right? Another Skipp type player? He was decent on loan at Palace, but is he *that* good?

Pointless having 'true DM skillset' if you are not press resistant when we are playing a high line.

Imo he is way better than Skipp, much more goal threat and great at pressing from the front.

I think he has superior attacking instincts to Skipp, certainly with his movement and timing in and around the box.

He's also very effective in the press.

Thanks both, yeah I can see that being true.

If we're selling Højbjerg though, who is our option for 6 if we need to rotate/rest Bissouma? Is it Bentancur? Sarr? Skipp?

Think neither of them is the perfect fit for a 6 but so isn't Hojbjerg.

Bentancur when he’s fit again. He’s the most press resistant aside from Bissouma.

Oh I completely agree re: Højbjerg, he doesn't fit properly. I think my biggest issue with the squad right now is that alternative 6, someone who is press resistant and can break lines. That is the biggest hole in the squad.

It's absolutely Bentancour imo , Sarr nowhere near ready for that role now (even if he did have all the attributes) and Skipp, like Hojbjerg, not technically good enough for the role (Imo)

Agree, but I think he's a better 8, same as Sarr, and Skipp
I think it’ll be a bit more fluid when we get going properly. Bissouma, Sarr, Bentancur would all be able to fill in at 6. I even think Gallagher could do it better than PEH in this system. Skipp will be left as the least suited to the role if Højbjerg goes.
