If we sign Gallagher there’s not much need for Skipp or Hojbjerg so I’d like to see both shipped out. I think he’s well suited as an 8 for Ange’s system.

I think Bentancur could play as the ball carrying 6 once fit, so between GLC, Bentancur and Gallagher we’d have much better functioning options in midfield.

There's clearly a somewhat separate HG economy going on with bigger spending clubs in relation to FFP and squad building.

They are different assets because they don't 'count against the cap' to use how its said in basketball. Gallagher is available mostly because of Palmer being shifted, which itself will be a FFP move to take the "HG premium" because City figure theyve got sufficient HG assets already, to allow higher spending on a player who will count against the cap (eg Nunes).
I'd bet there's also figuring that they're less risky because their value won't depreciate as much even if they don't perform.

Our equivalent will be Skipp, Sessegnon if he has years on his contract, and Spence if he has a good season away on loan.

We'd spend big on Gallagher and/or Johnson so as to allow a)our money to drop on non-HG players next transfer window unencumbered by nationality concerns (for example, the best CB we can attract) and b)be less hampered by needing to hang on to HG assets even if we'd rather be in a position to shed them (see the three listed above)

Gallagher, Schurrs and Johnson would be solid additions we’ve clearly been tracking for a while. Would be nice if we had signed them 3 weeks ago, but hopefully we can get done now.
Yeah I’d see that as a moderately decent window. Not going to hold my breath at this point though. Feels too late.

Exactly.

And it should be something we can do.

We signed Vicario, Udogie, Bentancur, Solomon and Sarr all for under 20m, so a lot of value to be found with excellent scouting.

We are essentially paying more to ensure we stay within HG but as you say, it is offset with the gems you can find.

Interesting to hear that he's Ange's choice so, we accept that the club is backing the manager but it's difficult to imagine a Chelsea player since they were 8 years old, deciding in 1 day to go to Spurs.

Chelsea “bracing themselves” for a bid. Yeah, I expect they’re shaking in their boots over there.
Bracing themselves for losing oxygen to the brain as they giggle themselves to death after receiving an offer of 12m, plus N'Dombele.

The fact that they've already sold players directly to 3 of the other "big 6" this season makes me think this could happen. They clearly don't care where the players go as long as they get the money.

I think people are going to be disappointed if they are expecting 3 signings in 27 hours

Especially when at least two of them will be huge fees.

Gallagher would be superb in our system. Covers so much ground and very underrated in the final third. Personally think he’s been misused and under appreciated at Chelsea. Whilst I love Skippy I think this guy is a level above

Yeah there's no way we're signing both.

I've a feeling we'd be more comfortable splashing 50 million on Gallagher than BJ.
