I thought he was a die hard Espanyol guy? Never Barca. That’s like him going to Arsenal. Very surprised by that.
If there's one thing I remember of Poch he was quick to change his tune to the press

And I wouldn't be surprised if the players clocked on to it and started to feel like he contradicted himself. Especially when you have your favourites and they get away with stuff. If there's one thing I remember of Poch he was quick to change his tune to the press
I agree about the project thing. The Espanyol thing I’m not personally bothered about. I think that we tend to put people on a pedestal sometimes and expect them to behave in a perfect way but people change their minds sometimes - his big mistake was not saying: “never say never”. It wouldn’t be the crime of the century if he managed Barcelona but I do think that it would be a mistake as it wouldn’t be a project as you mentioned in your comment. There is no "project" at Barca, no time to get it right etc. It's win today or be gone tomorrow. IMO this would be a terrible move for him. He won't win the league or CL next season given the issues with the squad and their financial constraints. There is an election next year as well so head of club could be someone who didn't appoint him.
If he wants to get the winning something monkey off his back wait for PSG and win the treble there and see how you get on in Europe. Least he'd have some money to spend and also has a good youth set up to bring some through too.
Also, and I get a shudder thinking / typing this, if he reneges on what he said before about managing Barca after being with Espanyol then he would manage anybody......
I wouldn't ordinarily disagree with that but I don't think we should underestimate the earthquake that 8-2 drubbing represents. There is no "project" at Barca, no time to get it right etc. It's win today or be gone tomorrow. But Barca are in serious trouble financially so there is no cash to build the project. They needed to sell Arthur to juve in the manner they did just to get a book profit so the directors wouldn't be financially responsible for 15% of the losses and that was based on last year's financials imagine what 2020 financials will look like after Covid?!?I wouldn't ordinarily disagree with that but I don't think we should underestimate the earthquake that 8-2 drubbing represents.
The whole club has finally had the smack round the chops they've needed for a couple of years. It's actually a good time to be going into Barca as coach with a "project" ?
.....It's also another reason why the book was such a bad idea. Everything is written down for everyone to see and they'll be waiting for you to trip up so they can say "But you said....". Not only that but you break a cardinal sin in football - revealing what goes on behind closed doors with your players.
I really do wonder what Dier and Walker think about the book.
I wonder what Ronaldo’s opinion will be if he tries to play him wing back in a cup semi final?
Yes, that could come back to bite him !It'd be very very similar to when he took over at Spurs, but obviously with a much higher profile in every aspect. It's one thing to fuck Emmanuel Adebayor off out the door, another to tell Luis Suarez to do one...
He's been back tracking though. Said that it's different now Espanyol have been relegated as they're not competing in the same league...Barca’s extremely risky for Poch to take and he’s said he wouldnt go there. I cant see it happening.
he flip flopped on that it the week didn’t he. It was that point I thought he may well be off there.
I’d be careful taking it if I were him. Could finish his managerial career if he nosedives. If offered the job you can’t turn it down though, you won’t get offered it twice.
